August 2, 20168 yr Hendricks has been pitching like an ace this year so not completely unexpected. Really need a big performance from Jose tomorrow.
August 2, 20168 yr Besides the game, not sure I like Phelps in he rotation. I feel his stuff is far more suited to being a reliever. He has the fastball and the cutter both of which he can vary speeds well and a pretty good curve but not much else. Hes has some success as a starter but not consistently.
August 2, 20168 yr I was standing next to Marlins Man during batting practice and didnt even know it haha
August 2, 20168 yr @Admin Any ideas where the team stays when in Chicago? Not that I plan on stalking them or anything...
August 2, 20168 yr It's obvious how far apart the talent is between miami and chicago...but to be fair the Cubs are way ahead of every team. Based on pure talent the Cubs should win the world series this year. This stretch of chicago/colorado/san fran is going to kill our record. Just a horrible next week plus going forward.
August 2, 20168 yr @Admin Any ideas where the team stays when in Chicago? Not that I plan on stalking them or anything... I heard mentioned that they use to stay at "The Drake" which supposedly is haunted. It is on Walton I believe and is downtown.
August 2, 20168 yr Have they said who starts Wednesday? I'm assuming they go with Koehler and then Thursday skips Rea's spot so that it's Cashner Conley Jose against the Rockies and you leave the fifth starter spot until next Tuesday to either bring someone up, pick up someone, or stretch out Phelps.

Just a horrible next week plus going forward. a lot of us have been saying "well, this was it" at various points during the season when they'd drop a couple games or lose 3 of 4 or something. so far it hasn't happened and they've hovered around 7-9 games over for a long time.
August 2, 20168 yr August is actually an interesting month with the variety of teams we face. Even with a couple tough teams there's enough crap in there for us to stay alive and maybe even push ahead. If we collapse it'll be in September not August.

I was wondering the same thing. Do you save Jose for Monday at home against the Giants and allow him to avoid Coors Field? You would then need Phelps or whoever the 5th starter is for Sunday.
August 2, 20168 yr This is a very solid team. We are right on par with the mets, cards, Dodgers and Giants as far as talent goes. The Cubs are better than every team in baseball, our real test is can we stay with the Nationals through August.
August 2, 20168 yr Unfortunately I agree with squall. The sp is a disaster and worst part it was such an easily predictable disaster

Weren't we just beat them in the last series !?
August 2, 20168 yr Eh, our starters have been trash all year. It's not like they're over preforming so I don't see why we cant maintain our record. Jose is elite, Conley is good, and then all we need from Cashner and Koehler is a 4.5 era (6 innings, 3 runs) because with this bullpen and offense that's enough. I like our chances.

But with Jose's innings limit and Conley's lack of experience,I just don't know how good is our chance without adding at least one more good SP.
