September 27, 20169 yr Jose is a once-in-a-generation type of talent that can almost never be replaced. We probably won't ever have a talent quite as good as Jose ever again however in time we will have a true ace superstar again. Dontrelle Willis was the guy then Josh Johnson was the guy and finally Jose was the guy. As athletes continually improve with technology we will at some point get the next version of "our guy" who can contend for Cy Young awards. What this future ace won't have is the charisma and personality of Jose - that will never be replaced.

While I agree with your general point, Willis--as good as he was--wasn't in the same league as Fernandez when it came to talent. Prime Josh Johnson was close, but he never got the chance to fully realize how good he could have been due to a myriad of injuries. For every ace like Jose Fernandez, there are 10 aces (at least) like Jon Lester. Both are terrific, but one is special. Will we have an ace again? Absolutely, but this is akin to the Dodgers losing Kershaw. Some guys are essentially irreplaceable.

I have dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate and barely have that. Protein shakes for lunch most days. Smaller portions for breakfast and dinner. I also try to do at least 5 miles a day

And I do think they know that so basically not happening. Period. Yeah. Worst case scenario, they stand pat. There is absolutely no way in hell they trade Stanton or anything of the sort. Marlins fans have been through several fire sales before and have still remained loyal to the team, but if Loria and Co. did it this time, under these circumstances, you might as well kiss the franchise goodbye. It isn't happening.
September 28, 20169 yr Author Good question. I believe Yes. Need 2 quality starters. Not an easy thing. I think the two most likely position players to be traded are Hechavarria and Ozuna, with Hechavarria being the more likely one. He really struggled offensively this season and I think if they can find an upgrade offensively who will not be a defensive liability, they will make that change. Chen had a bad, and bad luck, season and he needs to step it up next year. Koehler got off to a horrible start with all the walks and I am not sure we could find a better option to fill out the rotation. I would expect Conley to be back and the rest is up in the air. I really hope they dont just rely on putting Phelps in the rotation. Urena had spurts of being very effective, the question is whether he can find consistency. But yes, I think we need two legitimate starters.

September 28, 20169 yr Also, I love how we can "laugh" about these things now as opposed to really getting pissed off to all hell about them. I mean, has any loss in the history of this team felt as insignificant as last night's? I don't mean like the loss in the record books doesn't matter I mean like we lost and it was like "ok too bad but that's fine, we're all still alive and safe, move on" as opposed to "ugh this team sucks I hate my life." Felt that way with both us and the team itself.
