We literally have someone better on the bench right now.

 

 

I'm really impressed with how effortlessly Ozuna is hitting his HR's with.  He's showing some easy power.

 

 

Everyone mentions that Rojas really isn't great offensively but upon taking another look I think he will surprise. 

 

In 2014, he hit .181 over 150 or so at bats for the Dodgers but that year he also did very well in AAA. 

 

In 2015, he came up and in almost the same number of at bats hit .282. He also did well in AAA.

 

In 2016, he showed further improvement but a little inconsistency and ended up at .247 I believe. 

 

Now he has had the very good start to this season and I think he has just made good strides offensively that might last.

 

 

We literally have someone better on the bench right now.

 

Rojas is way better off as a bench guy though, can play the entire IF. Who plays 1B to give Bour a day off? 

 

 

I am shocked the broadcast team or media have not brought up Conley's velocity drop.

Yea but Hech wears a uniform better!  He's got flair!  Rojas is boring.

He's mixing his speeds with his fastball. Hitting from 88 to 92. Add and subtract, it isn't the worst idea. He's not sitting at 89. He's averaging 90.2 [baseball Savant].

 

Although last year he did average 92.02 last year [brooks Baseball].

 

I'm more worried about him sitting in the middle of the zone more than his velocity.

It is definitely down this season a good amount. I recall him being 92-94 touching 95. 

 

I remember when he first came up he was 89-90 then they said he started throwing with more conviction etc. and the velocity went up. 

 

 

Balls weren't really hit hard that inning.

You are correct, his velocity last year was averaged at 92.02 [brooks Baseball]. However, if he's throwing slower, that's not the biggest issue, as long as he's locating. Maybe he's just a slow starter and will build up as the season goes.

 

A little weird, though ... not like he had a career high in innings last year [professionally, at least]. But, as they say, it's not just the innings, it's the stress of those innings.

Agreed. Just doesn't look sharp, but it doesn't help that he isn't getting that call inside to righties 

 

 

Cahill has been able to hang around the league and his stuff still looks pretty good. 

 

Now the guy I am really worried about is Luis Perdomo on Sunday.

FSFlorida clearly doesn't think Conley can have a 1-2-3 inning here. They already have a runner at 1B for the Padres.
