April 24, 20188 yr On Jeter getting defensive when asked if the team was tanking... did you all expect him to say yes we're made to lose and we don't expect a win on a daily basis? That's insulting to everyone involved. Jeter knows this team sucks but they are "capable" of winning more games than they've shown and there's no way Mattingly and the coaches are doing any less than preparing these guys to win on a daily basis regardless of what the results have shown thus far. It's stupid to think otherwise. He said he thinks they can compete. That is delusional.

Better answer is to say that competing for a world title is the ultimate goal, but that the 2018 season is more about finding some positives to build on.

I hate this line of reasoning from Jeter because it continues to imply that the Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna core were not winners. Maybe it is obvious we couldn't support them and add on, but it keeps coming out that "we didn't win with them anyway".

I understand those were different times and they got Soriano back and all that. But Texas has a terrific player on their hands which does not bind them to pouring money into the team despite having very little else other than the player.

They are "over-achieving" - I can't complain about that! lol It can be fun to watch a team when you don't have any expectations. A win is exciting, but a loss is expected. It's different when you're a fan of a team that is supposed to make the playoffs or compete for a championship, because then a win is expected and a loss can be devastating. If I'm watching the 2018 Marlins and they lose, I'm like "well yeah that makes sense" but if they win, it's fun and exciting. If I'm watching the 2018 Dodgers (if I were a Dodgers fan) and I see them keep losing, I'm like "wait, wtf this team was supposed to make it back to the World Series what's going on?"

June 2, 20188 yr Comparing our record last year at this time with this years record was a hot thing for a while. Frisaro was doing it 3 times a week. There’s been a dip in that lately, no?
