Or perhaps it's much easier to sign a high school kid much faster because they're not potentially still playing in very important games. A lot of college players, especially ones drafted in the first couple rounds, are still playing in games and want to wait until they finish those up before signing. Mize might not sign for another month, not because of contract issues, but again because he's playing in big games still. So unless he signed for DRASTICALLY under slot, then this isn't an issue.

None of these kids are anywhere near ready for the majors and most of them won’t make it anyway. Some of these catchers probably won’t catch in the system

I get the baseball draft is so different from NBA or NFL, that just confused me.

June 6, 20188 yr I feel you. But is it me or is it crazy to draft that many players who play the same position within the first 10 rounds? I get the baseball draft is so different from NBA or NFL, that just confused me. Guys often switch positions. Realmuto was drafted as a SS.
