Realmuto traded to Phillies

"any package for him should begin with at least one elite prospect and/or a young big leaguer Miami can control for the next half decade or so."

and/or !? I think it's only "and".

The young big leaguer would need to be a guy like Acuna or that wouldn’t make sense.

Anyone see the "rumor" that the Marlins would take Puig or Bellinger for JT? Some people really have no clue how this stuff works.

Every fan base has dumb fans. A Yankee fan suggested Austine Romine is on the same level as JT so he should be the primary guy going back to Miami, not Gary Sanchez as Sanchez is better. You read that right, he thinks Sanchez for JT straight up is unfair to the Yanks.

That's "nonsense", not "rumor"…

I hadn’t seen this and then a friend texted that to me last night (marlins fan too).  He pointed out that he and JT are the same age but I mean cmon.   If we are moving JT we need all the return to be in the form of prospects

Bellinger has some intrigue but I’d still want prospects in addition to him

People think every trade is like a video game trade where you have to equal each major leaguer with another major leaguer from the other team. It just doesn't always work that way and it definitely isn't what the Marlins are trying to do now.

IDK, I'd much rather have the centerpiece be an established pre-arb guy. Bellinger for example is already a 4-win player at age 23 w/ 4 years of control left. That's extremely valuable. I'd take that over multiple Top 100 guys every time.

I agree, I say take bellinger, two high ceiling pitching prospects that are 1-2 years away, and another low minors hitter. Realmuto is gonna walk in two years anyway, and bellinger is a verified stud at another premium position.

Didn't know if this belonged in the offseason thread or this JT thread, but the Nats just signed Kurt Suzuki to a 2 year, $10M deal.

Yea.  That’s why I went back and edited my comment to acknowledge Bellinger.  But it still needs to be Bellinger plus some players

That is a nice package.

FWIW I think the chances of the Dodgers including Bellinger in any deal are pretty slim (even though I said that's the kind of centerpiece I'd want for JT). There's not really any precedent that I can think of for a pre-arb player of his caliber being traded. I think any trade involving him and JT would have to be a lot closer to 1 for 1 for the Dodgers to actually consider it. I'd be happy with a 1 for 1 swap because he's already shown elite offensive potential at the MLB level, but I realize many will want more in return.

Starting or backup, a 35 years old catcher may be a backup.
