Honestly at this point I'd be cool with trading Realmuto for 5 18 year old, 2 of which have good numbers in low A ball. With the hope that 3 of them become great mlb players.

You HAVE to get at least 1 "sure thing" for him. You can't just get a package of low-A guys. It needs to be a organization's top prospect who is close to MLB-ready along with a couple of younger guys.

I'm getting a little bit concerned about this. Everything I've seen so far suggests the asking price  is crazy high. They don't really have the luxury of holding out for some insane overpay, teams will move on. But I think they eventually "settle" for something similar to the Riley/soroka package they were rumored to have been offered at the deadline.

This is what's concerning me. In no way am I saying they shouldn't aim high but is there a point where they have to consider backing up even slightly?

 

 

If nobody is willing to pay a fair amount right now, you keep him and then try again at trade deadline when contenders are desperate.

What if he gets injured? What if he has a bad first half? I'm with you but I'n playing devil's advocate because I'm afraid he'll never be more valuable than he is right now during this offseason.

If you don't get a top prospect for him, then the fact he's the most valuable currently is negated. You can wait and take a chance if the return package doesn't include at least one top prospect.

However, the Marlins need to be careful about overplaying their hand. Realmuto is two years from free agency and reaching the point where the return will start to go down. The Marlins surely have gotten an accurate assessment of his value by now.

Exactly why getting Brinson back as the centerpiece for their most valuable asset last year was utterly asinine. I've already resigned myself to the fact JT will be moved - I just don't trust this braintrust to actually get back good value for what is easily their best trade chip and (currently) their ONLY trade piece left that can be franchise changing.

Still seems like they panicked and picked an offer for Yelich.

 

 

I've heard that there weren't as many teams after Yelich as people think. Apparently the Milwaukee package was the best offer.
