November 26, 20187 yr I've heard that there weren't as many teams after Yelich as people think. Apparently the Milwaukee package was the best offer. Again, though, Yelich didn't need to be traded at all. Don't just settle for a deal just to make one....it seemed like that's what they did with Yelich. He had 5 years (now 4) left on his contract (well, 4+club option). He's not comparable to JT in that regard, as he was under contract. JT is a bit different, as like Ozuna, you don't have him signed to a deal already, and the years of control is much less (than Yelich), so you're more inclined to do a deal now, whereas you could wait to do a deal on a guy under contract.

November 27, 20187 yr The signings of Suzuki and McCann are pretty telling. The drop offs between Realmuto and those two guys is pretty wide. Teams with a realistic chance in 2019 would rather keep their top prospects than to upgrade themselves at catcher with maybe the best catcher in the game today. I'm not sure that's smart. The price tag must be enormous. Jeter and Hill are probably trying to really use this trade to significantly improve our farm.
November 27, 20187 yr A Yelich type return for JT is unacceptable. Without receiving one of the two Astros stud prospects or equivalent prospects from another team you hold him. Every prospect other than Toronto’s Guerrero should be made available. JT is that valuable.

November 27, 20187 yr You can't judge a trade after 1 season especially when one side is an established All-Star and the other side is prospects. Though obviously year one wasn't so good for the trade.

I think Tucker is one of those guys who, I know I've used this phrase before but, he potentially gets us back to contending sooner than keeping Realmuto would.

Realmuto could be moving on as Miami stands firm on its sky-high asking price. In a column for The Athletic published Tuesday, MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal reported that the Marlins requested All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albiesfrom the Braves as part of a trade package for Realmuto, which could mean that Miami is refusing to compromise when it comes to dealing Realmuto within the National League East. Meanwhile, the Nationals have signed Kurt Suzuki and Rosenthal speculates that other potential Realmuto landing spots -- including the Dodgers, Rockies and Astros -- might be shifting elsewhere, too. Miami's commitment to receiving the best deal possible is admirable, but it does come with considerable risk. Realmuto has already gone on record that he will not sign an extension with the Marlins, and he's under team control for just two more years. Miami appears to be far from contending anytime soon, and so there is some pressure to beef up its farm system with top-end prospects by dealing Realmuto when his value is highest. If the catcher suffers a significant injury between now and the time he hits free agency, the Marlins would be holding the short end of the stick. November 27, 20187 yr JT could easily have a Yelich type year in Houston. Get back Tucker and James as highlighters and Denbo should be on the line right now negotiating and wrapping this deal up. Will be rooting for the Stros to take back the AL.

If u get Kyle Tucker he is most likely your All Star level right fielder in 2020 and in the next several seasons after that. Kyle Tucker is potentially more important to the Marlins next contending team than Realmuto is.

The Marlins haven’t acquired anyone nearly as good as Tucker since the rebuild began. Only the worst of the worst of South Florida sports fans would whine about the Marlins getting Tucker and a top tier RHP for JT.
