You would think the idea of an extension has been brought to his agent otherwise why make the remark unless it is a passive aggressive trade demand. Everyone loves jt and the marlins do too but let’s all be reasonable here. If you can’t get him to sign on for more years it isn’t smart to let him go to free agency I would be really disappointed to see him go but given the way it has been playing out I would understand

The general consensus here is not that we want JT because he simply makes this team better. Makes all the sense in the world to offer him a fair contract and build around him. Just like the casual fans think the Marlins wanted to trade Yelich but that was far from the truth. Would have been amazing for JT and Yelich to buy into the rebuild. There will be more a clear picture by Winters Meetings; where they probably will have made their best offer. If it is declined, then you should hear the rumors ramp up.
