November 2, 20187 yr If they spend $$$$ in 2020/2021 to vault the team into playoff contention, they truly did have a plan. I believe they would spend big in the big name FAs if this team was one or two star players away from contending in 2020 or 2021, but if we lost JT maybe would push back the target date one or two years…
November 2, 20187 yr He still has a plan. I mean he had a plan when he bought this team and still keep it now.
November 2, 20187 yr When there were rumblings last season that JT wanted out I wish they had moved him instead of Yelich since the shelf life is generally shorter on that position and his value drops significantly at 1B. That said, I really hate the idea of Hill brokering another trade so I'd like to see an overpay for JT at this point. With revenue sharing and as cheap as they've been they have the money to do it and I call BS if JT wouldn't taken an overpayment on a deal. They snagged the #1 international free agent so make a statement and keep your lone "big name". I would want to see a front loaded deal though. I would absolutely LOVE to see a front loaded deal so that when he starts winding down and needing more days over at first a trade won't be nearly as hard because he'll be on the back end of that contract and a lower cost. Helps the team on the field and with the fan base by keeping him now - and helps the team later on down the road by possibly still being a trade chip to bring in his replacement, etc.
November 2, 20187 yr When there were rumblings last season that JT wanted out I wish they had moved him instead of Yelich since the shelf life is generally shorter on that position and his value drops significantly at 1B But Realmuto just had a great season and it probably boosted his value. He basically went from "potentially" one of the best catchers in MLB a year ago to actually being one of the best catchers in MLB now, with the numbers and stats to back it up.

November 2, 20187 yr So maybe wait one more season and hope he would change his mind and staying here. Then he only has 1 year until FA instead of 2, greatly decreasing the return.
November 2, 20187 yr New thought. Stekinrider, Realmuto, Urena, and Dietrick for Wander Franco, and Brendon Mckay. Do you guys think thats enough?
November 2, 20187 yr I didn't watch the video, but on the surface it makes no sense. How the fuck would that trade make sense for the Marlins? Sanchez would need to be part of a package that includes multiple top kids.

Sanchez would need to be part of a package that includes multiple top kids. The thought is Sanchez had a down year due to his babip, and generally bad luck. He still produced monster power numbers, and with 4 years of team control vs Realmuto's 2 the thought is he would right the ship and be a better player in miami. The only question id really have is how would those power numbers translate in marlins ballpark. it's pure pull power with all but one of his homeruns going to left field. Left field at yankees is not overly bad. My big problem with this trade is I think with a package of players we could get multiple can't miss prospects.

Sanchez would need to be part of a package that includes multiple top kids. I thought the same but the video gives reasons why Sanchez could be useful to us (younger, more years of control, still has potential to bounce back, becomes the immediate replacement for JT, and could be a big piece if he does bounce back and we become contenders)... with that said yes it would have to include top prospects as well. I still don't think that's the deal the Marlins would take but I only posted it because it's not as crazy as it seems up front.
November 2, 20187 yr A wise person once said that age is just a number. That is true, that's why my Tindr profile is 18-88 baby!
November 2, 20187 yr That is true, that's why my Tindr profile is 18-88 baby! You certainly are not limiting yourself but you may never finish swiping on those.
November 2, 20187 yr So maybe wait one more season and hope he would change his mind and staying here. I don't see him playing another season in this anemic lineup as providing a "boost" to his value. I'm 100% confident his value will not be any higher than it is right now. Again - would prefer the offer him a frontloaded contract with some extra $$ tossed in there. I would call his bluff and say that if he received an offer that was clearly an overpayment then he'd sign with very little pushback and we'd hear all sorts of "JT's heart was always here - he was just frustrated, etc. blah blah blah" - any cliche you want to use.
November 2, 20187 yr Check out this comment from a fan: https://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2018/11/mlb_rumors_marlins_jt_realmuto_yankees_sanchez.html?__vfz=medium%3Dcomment_share_email#vf-10264900017717 I see Realmuto as a slightly better hitting catcher than Romine. He hit 21 hrs, 74 rbis in 477 abs, while Romine had half the abs at 242 and had 10 hrs 42 rbis. Not much difference there, although like I said, Realmuto is a bit better. Defensively, they are both good catchers. Sanchez is by far, the most productive hitting catcher in the game. He is only 25 and should improve defensively and has a gun for an arm. I would not trade him even up for any catcher.

November 2, 20187 yr It would be an absolute joke if they only took sanchez and medina for JT I'd be done with this team!1
November 2, 20187 yr I'd be done with this team!1 im already done with them so doesnt matter to me go rays!
