Combine Martin's and Barens' plate appearances, and you get roughly a full season. Of combine 0.8 fWAR. If a team that's competing for a World Series wants to keep that instead of a good shot at 5+ WAR, then okay, enjoy.

Feels like everyone complaining about the Marlins high price tag doesn't understand things like this. JT isn't any dime a dozen catcher and adding him to a playoff contender might really make a huge difference between winning a championship or not.

So wait, according to Dan O'Dawd the Astros have actually offered us Tucker and Bukauskas? Isn't that what we were hoping for? Are we waiting for someone to top that?

Braves are talking to AJ Pollock and seem poised to sign him to a 5yr / 80M deal. Maybe we're hoping the Braves cough up Acuna for him and they replace Acuna with Pollock? Maybe Marlins actually send something back along with JT for him? Some interesting scenarios. But I thought that if the Marlins got offered Tucker plus a solid pitcher like Bukauskas it would've been accepted.

Told you they wanted much more.

But no, ole Das is full of shit.

love the way the doyers believe they've solved their catching situation

My speculation on this so far:

Marlins FO has concluded they most likely got sodomized on Yelich deal and they have unanimously vowed to not have that happen with JT.

Maybe they're just used to lose in the WS, if they made it to the WS again.

Honestly it’s not that bad a gamble by the Dodgers.

See what happens through June.

You don’t need to upgrade at catcher to win the division.

Adjust if needed at the deadline. Sound strategy.

Dodgers will probably push more for an Indian starter now.
