April 17, 20197 yr Sunday traffic is much different than weekday rush hour traffic. It takes me an hour to get from Fort Lauderdale to Hialeah (79th/81st st exit), not even to downtown Miami, (and the same back home) so that 45 mins you're saying isn't realistic. Sorry, didn't mean to double post. I've driven from homestead at 615 and got to the ballpark in time to be in my seats for a 7:10 start back in April 2012 (also 2017 and 2018) (Used 2012 for a more packed season) I've picked up a friend at exit 93 and the turnpike (another time took i95) and drove to the stadium at 530 and was in the stadium by 630. It's doable. The trick is checking the GPS apps before you go so you know what streets to avoid. Then again, I got from Homestead to the BB&T Center for the panthers season opener against the NJD and my engine just blew in my other car- so maybe I drive like an asshole too. #FuckJeter

That’s life. I really don’t think it’s fair to judge a fan base on week night attendance. Depends on the areas geography but those games are really for those close to the stadium. The weekend games are where the whole metro area is expected to pitch in.

Every since people started crapping on the Marlins attendence even more this year, I've paid attention to highlights and opposing teams stadiums. SOME of these ballparks look just as empty as ours. Suntrust Park against the mets a few days ago, Reds vs. Marlins and Reds Vs. Pirates. Baseballs just stupid expensive to enjoy. How many people have an extra $100 to enjoy a night out at the park every other week? It's a big commitment even w season tickets. Parking, tickets for two, maybe dinner. You're better off just staying home and enjoying a nice dinner with family. Heck, taking a family of four out to dinner is cheaper than going to a ballgame these days.

I think Miami will support a consistent winning team more than the Tampa area... but really- MLB has just priced the casual fan and families out of the game. We had decent attendance spikes in from late 2003 to 2004, 2005. The stadium played a big factor in it not going up alot since it was hotter than hell and in the middle of no where. Take that 2003 Team and put it in it's current location.. I don't think we'd have a problem with 20k actual fans a night,
April 17, 20197 yr Thinking about supporting a team 81 times a year is a daunting task. If a fanbase comes at it by looking at it in terms of weekends it becomes much more manageable. The Marlins have 14 weekend series this season (3 games per weekend = 42 homes games or approximately the same number of total home games the Panthers and Heat play including weekdays). That’s 2-3 weekends per month Lets say the team averaged 25,000 fans for those weekend games (seems respectable), that’s 1,050,000 tickets they’d have to sell. Using myself as an example, if I took my kid to one game per series for just half of those weekend series (seven series) I’d be buying 14 tickets. If the Marlins could attract 37,500 people like me in the entire MIA-FTL-WPB metro area to do the same they would hit that 1,050,000 number. I guess finding 37,500 adults who have a companion (child or otherwise) who are up for 7 weekend home games a year is difficult to do. They don’t even have to know who is playing or care about the result. That would eclipse last year’s total attendance for all games including weekdays. I acknowledge this is a sloppy analysis. Supporting Math: Target Adult Fans: 37,500 Plus: a guest/child: 37,500 Total Fans: 75,000 Weekend tickets X 14 1,050,000 Weekend Series in 2019 14 Games per series X 3 Available Games 42 Target avg atten X 25,000 Total attendance w/ target 1,050,000
April 17, 20197 yr hows the new stadium prices and food and drink You can get in the park for $10 Hot dogs (small but tasty) can be had for $3 The $5 pork tacos are good as well. If you don’t like onions make sure you ask before you order. You can find very close parking for $10 (no blockie) That’s all very reasonable. There are much more expensive items: I had the Novacento steak sandwich. Delicious. I think it was $13.

I wish we had specific numbers on weekday attendance because I've always thought that even if the team is consistently great and in contention how many sell out crowds can this team, or many others for that matter, get on Monday-Thursday? I myself am a huge Marlins fan but I still don't think I'd go to more weekday games than now just because the team is good. I'd go to more games on the weekends and make my the weekday games must watch TV but actually going?

It was about 6-8 ounces in a plastic cup. Second game I bought a $5 beer and they gave me a can 12ounce can of Bud Light. The 24 oz King Cans are the same price as years past.
