Just imagine, if the Ump made that call against the Yankees in NY..  

 

 

the umps and Stinkrider blew that one... the missed bunt/strike 3 call was bad enough but Stinkrider gave up 3 hits (including a 3run jack)... i don't trust him in a close game

 

 

but hurt more hitting the hand of batter because we didn't pitch well after

It wasn't just that but that was the WORST. The ump blew 2 clear Strikeouts for K-leb that ended eventually in the 2 runs he gaved.

I didn’t watch many games last year but is Jess Blaylock still doing games?

 

 

One of the ongoing long term debates about baseball. Did the shitty call cost us the game or should steck have still been able to wiggle out of the situation. The unfortunate part is that 5 runs were a direct result of bad umpiring. Had that been an out I feel the Mets don’t score that inning. 

 

 

Very frustrating game. Umpire or not I do feel that Steckenrider becomes way to predictable at times.

When Stanton got hit in the face you saw a guy trying to get out of the way. He collapsed his feet and was already falling to avoid contact. With Lagares, you had someone trying to block the ball with the bat. His body language said nothing about moving out of the way. If it is a swing when it happened to Stanton and then for Reed (Johnson)  one pitch later to get a strikeout, then there is no reason why this should go as a HBP. I mean if a pitch was coming at you and you swung the bat at it to try to deflect it and it still hit you, what do you think the call would be?

I didn't see the pitch live, but I just saw a replay, and I don't know how you can argue it's not offering at the pitch.  Whether you're swinging or blocking the ball from your face, it's a strike - look at Stanton's situation like you point out.

 

The Marlins always seem to have stuff like this happen to them.
