June 27, 20197 yr Roof should be closed if it’s ever hotter than 79. Most people rightfully wont go to a game if it’s open when it’s 85 degrees with 400 percent humidity like it is every night from May 15-September 30. Roof closed is bae I still remember a day game in joe Robbie in 2004 with d train pitching where we had to keep drinking water because of how offensively hot it was. (Granted it was a day game ). I went to a double header once (Andrew Miller tossed 7 shutout innings in game 1) and my gf at the time and I were DYING throughout the entire game. Had to run up to the shade pretty much every few minutes to keep from melting into our already melting orange plastic seats.
June 28, 20197 yr First of all I’d like to thank Mr. Geffner for trying to light a fire under this city This is something I think about all the time and it really bothers me. I’ve been a diehard fan since 93 and love the Marlins more than just about anything else in this world. The thought of our team being relocated or contracted is something that literally keeps me up at night. My question to you fellow diehards and Mr. Geffner (if you’d be kind enough to respond) would be what more can we do besides just going to more games? I think we have a huge responsibility to do whatever we can to ensure the team is successful and stays in Miami.

June 28, 20197 yr Author Often overlooked when it comes to discussing the low attendance: I know people who have lived in South Florida for 40 years who root for the Phillies because they lived there for 7 years growing up. I know more Yankee fans in real life than Marlins fans. And all of the Yankee fans have lived in South Florida for 20+ years. Etc, etc etc

It's so arrogant and selfish the way some of these idiots refuse to support the Marlins. I've said this story before but Opening day 2018 the Cubs fan in front of me told her kid that she wouldn't buy the kid a drink because it came in a Marlins cup. In her defense she was probably exaggerating and may have eventually bought the kid a drink but even as a joke that comment summed up these transplant fans so perfectly to me. I see and hear this all the time. To be fair there are many who do say "I'll support the Marlins as long as they aren't playing my team" and I can live with that but the severe arrogance towards the local team is ridiculous.

But that doesn't mean they can't root for the Marlins (their "adopted" local team) all the other games. I can kind of see where they are coming from considering the Marlins are a division rival. Maybe if they grew up fans of a team from one of the other divisions you have a point, but if I had to move to Atlanta or New York City, the only reason I would go to Braves or Mets games would be to root for the road team.
