Blowing an 8-1 lead? WE'RE BACK, BABY

You guys remember when Conley was considered valuable, and we were expected to trade him for prospects, but didn't?

I can just imagine the crying that would've happened if he was dealt years ago. It would've been another "Cy Young winner" that was dealt away,

Cant wait to see Conley get picked up by a San Diego Padre like team, do really well and and then net them a really good prospect!

I get it, this has happened countless times... but beyond the joke what actually makes you think Conley would be successful elsewhere? He's blown numerous opportunities here so nothing tells me a change of scenery would help him.

And I know this was just an exhibition game but the Marlins had a chance to create some momentum with a dominant win over the best team in the division and Mattingly let it slip away. Don't tell me a win there wouldn't have boosted this team's mentality of thinking they could hang with the Braves. Instead Donnie bursted their bubbles on day one. What a dumbass.

Just win today and we can forget about yesterday's collapse.

Can't count on that, we might get beat easily today. An 8 run lead yesterday should have been an "easy win" and Donnie shouldn't have let it slip away.

The whole point of keeping Donnie was supposedly because he's the right guy to start showing these guys how to win... last night he handed the team a loss that could have been prevented.

Agree.  A lot of people will say it's just preseason, no big deal.  Well, it could've done a lot for the mental aspect of the game.  Instead, that got shit all over.

It’s an exhibition game. The way Mattingly managed that game is clearly not the way he’d manage in a regular game.

I know some people just hate Mattingly, but that game was clearly managed like a Spring Training game by both sides.

Yimi Garcia and Brandon Kintzler, for example, won’t be throwing the 4th & 5th innings, respectively, in a regular season game.

Just like Sobotka wouldn’t have been closing a 9-8 ballgame for the Braves had it been a real game.

Yep, they said only reason they pitched that early was due to weather.

Amazing how quickly he pulled Dugger but was more than happy to leave Conley out there.

Edit - Dugger faced 5, Conley faced 6. Hmm. They're just that bad.

It's 3 days before the regular season and you have a seven run lead. It was an easy game to win at that point by just pulling Conley a batter or two earlier. Set the tone for the season. It's not the result that matters it's the mentality it sets for the players. This is July, not March. Convince these players they can hang with the Braves instead of reminding them that they're predicted to be in last place.
