After going through last year with guys like Dugger, Yamamoto, Tarpley(Although Tarpley did have some good moments last year) and the other relievers who came in and gave up runs in close games too many times, this could be a solid improvement in the bullpen. Well, especially compared to Dugger and Yamamoto!

Think of him not necessarily as "an option to be a closer," even if he ends up that way, consider him the replacement for the worst reliever we had. The bullpen is a collective. Not one person. He replaces the worst, not the best.
