August 3, 20215 yr Who will be the starting 5 next season? Based off THIS season you'd have to think it'll be Sandy, Pablo, Rogers, Luzardo, and then the mystery 5th guy. They have quite a few to choose from - Sixto, Cabs, Meyer, Eder, Hernandez are all options - literally an entire second starting 5 to choose from that would probably be a decent MLB quality starting 5 in their own right. Obviously a couple of those names will probably be moved then during the offseason for some bats - hopefully MLB ready ones.
August 3, 20215 yr Here is what I would do. Use a 6th rotation of Sandy, Pablo, Luzardo, Rogers, Cabrera & a conditioned Sixto. I’d go with Max, Hernandez & a poor conditioned Sixto in the pen. Eder if ready would be the 6th arm depending on Sixto. Max in the pen works right away with a rotation that is already stacked. If we do trade, I’d prefer a Hernandez, Sixto, Eder then Pablo in that order. Edited August 3, 20215 yr by FishFry
August 3, 20215 yr Sandy, Rogers and Pablo have the top three spots locked down. After that, it's anybody's guess. My prediction is Sixto and Luzardo getting the fourth and fifth spots.

If Luzardo pans out, and if Pablo is healthy, I think they move Pablo in the off season for a proven bat. It just makes sense to move him over Sandy. Sandy is much more durable and goes deeper into games. It would also allow us not to deplete our farm system for one player. With that in mind, I would go Sandy, Trevor, Jesus, and let the rest battle it out in the spring to round out the rotation. We'll end up using all of them at some point next year anyway. If you really think about it, and throw Elieser, Zach and Cody into the pen, that's 3 more guys capable of starting. Then there's still Garrett and Neidert for spot starts. We also have McCambley, Nicholas, Fitterer and Perez as a 3rd wave in 23' and 24'. The pitching depth in the organization is incredible.
August 3, 20215 yr You guys are jumping too early at this. We’re definitely going to be moving pitching for AT LEAST a catcher and somebody like Eliesar Hernandez could make a one for one swap so we might also move pitching of another OF. LB has been hitting .275 the last 30 games so I’m not going to say CF unlike he drops off.

August 3, 20215 yr Author I kinda made the thread to point out how insanely deep in this rotation is to prove that they would be ok in moving a guy like Pablo or Sixto for instance to secure some bats. Even dudes like Poteet and Thompson have been alright this year as a back end option - seriously. I'd probably prefer to give Cabs the shot at the last slot (assuming Jesus Lizard is in the rotation). I do NOT trust Sixto at all to stay healthy and succeed as a starter. Just don't.
August 3, 20215 yr One of Pablo or Meyer gets moved this off-season for sure. With that said I really would prefer long term to move Sixto but this would be selling him at his all time low so it’s the wrong time. Sandy needs to get locked up on a contract and Trevor is here to stay. Cabrera will be up next year and step in as the #3 so I anticipate a staff of: Sandy Trevor Cabrera (or Pablo if he stays and bump Cabrera and Luzardo down one) Luzardo Meyer (if he’s stays, otherwise one of Sixto or Eder if they don’t use Sixto out of the pen to ease him back) As other have said though, I think a 6 man rotation is best I just highly doubt they go for that here.

August 3, 20215 yr Author It's really laughable nobody has tried him as a bp arm. Clearly he's not a good starter so why wouldn't that be the next logical thing to try?
