I mean, it's entirely possible they had big moves planned but just couldn't get them done in time before last night like many other teams.

I think you're just looking for reasons to be angry.

Always some excuse given with this ownership group tbh

Marlins need to say something to us …

Why?  To just recycle the league's point of view that we already know?

Unnecessary.

They will be chosen at random.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Why is it an excuse?  It's a reality.  There are still several big free agents out there and several teams that have done nothing so far.  At least the Marlins have done something to this point.  Will they sign any of the big FA's left?  Who knows?  Could they have offered Bryant and Correa 800M deals each to have them signed already?  Yeah, but that'd be irresponsible.

Have the Marlins done enough?  Absolutely not.  There's more to do.  And Sherman said they're wanting/trying to do more.  They've at least shown us thus far in the offseason that they ARE attempting to improve the team, and at this point, whether they go far enough is (still) the question, but they've at least earned a bit of a longer leash, and obviously they now can't continue that journey/their plan until the lockout ends.  If they had done nothing to this point, yes I'd be very concerned.

I've said for months I'm giving them the entire offseason, and I will stand by that.  If they do nothing else from this point (whenever the lockout ends) until the season starts, then yeah, they failed.  Making it to around .500 next year, while an improvement, is not a "win", it's a failure.  That should've been the 2021 minimum goal, but they decided to do nothing last offseason, and I criticize them for that.  But lets wait and see the full picture before placing their heads on stakes.

Good read. They misplayed the Marte situation but damn it still sounds like they almost got him back. Would have been nice.

Sucks that it sounded so close to happening.

Mish is the one that teased some big giant move at the trade deadline.  Didnt happen.

Mish then teased some big moves here during the winter season.  Hasnt happened and nobody is going to remember his tease whenever the hell this is resolved sometime next year.

So therefore does Mish = boy that cried wolf.

What the front office did or didnt do doesnt really matter when it comes to boy that cries wolf tbh.

And we don't know what they had in progress that maybe just didn't get done before the deadline/lockout.

As I said above, if at the end of the offseason they still haven't made a big move, then yeah, we can all get our pitchforks.

Again, the point is that Mish has now teased this at both the deadline and the last few days.

Neither time has it come to fruition, just the 'things just didnt get done' line.

At what point does he become the boy that cried wolf is the actual question.

Does anyone here actually own a pitchfork? I don't. Might have to pick one up just in case. Anyone know where to get one at a good price?

I'll take someone with info that gets it wrong sometimes over the zilch/nada we get otherwise.
