I get that but Castellanos is considered pretty horrific as a defender from what I’ve read and a lot of folks want him.  Seems like either is gonna be  mediocre to bad defensively but an offensive upgrade.  Just seems like Schwarber won’t be as cost prohibitive and will provide more power.

Mish says a lot of things.. I'll believe it when I see it. i absolutely cannot see them starting Garcia in CF. He'll play in RF, which means De La Cruz is in CF. That leaves LF and DH open. Would you rather play Sanchez in LF and Scwarber at DH, or Schwarber at LF and Cooper at DH? I'd rather have the former.. but to each their own.

 

Then again, we won't sign Schwarber... although it would be nice!

I speak Marlins. That just means they're clearly not going to address CF... lol. Sigh.

I've seen Garcia play a bunch and there is absolutely no way he's a CF... dude is a freaking monster of a human being.. but I guess we shall see!

I don’t see Garcia starting 130 games in CF. Maybe they’re saying he’s capable of 40-60 games in CF, and the rest of RF/LF. Even the games he starts in CF, I could see them going to defensive replacement route late in games with BDLC

the problem is if you have Garcia also playing CF.  Thats when the bad defense of a Schwarber, Castellanos, et al gets magnified. 

Hey y'all! Sorry for butting into the conversation, but I'm struggling a bit to catch the Vibe of Terror when it comes to Garcia playing CF. He's got +600 innings out there and a -3.7 UZR/150. It's not pretty, but it's not unplayable neither.

In fact... It kinda matches up neatly with a pair of center fielders folks around here have been clamoring for...

At the end of the day though, I ain't saying he's Reynolds or Mullins, but rather that I'll happily give up a little OF defense for some extra offense. Heck, the pitchers + Stallings are gonna strike everyone out anyway. So I'm praying for Sanchez-Garcia-Schwarber. 🙏
