Don't know who this is or how accurate he is, but this is interesting........and this is after the Stallings acquisition.   There was the talk of the Padres liking Alfaro for some reason.

His name is Mike Hawk. C'mon.

Can he play 1st base?

Not very well from what I remember, but he's learning!

The more I think about it getting Schwarber gives the team lots of flexibility in a pinch (OF, DH, 1B) and you gotta love the ability to hit them lefty HRs to upper deck RF.

I don't think we would like to take on Hosmer's contract. By the way, why the Padres fans seems dislike him very much with his ok performance ?

Hosmer is due $20 million in '22, but his contract goes down to $13 per year from '23 through '25.

Lewin is not a sure shot to make it in MLB. Homer's glove and leadership might help.  Not sure how much is left in the bat.

Campusano is only 23 and might benefit being a back up to Stallings for a couple of years.

Still, with Stallings on board, Lewins glove, and power potential, and more pressing needs in CF, I doubt we take this route.

You get Schwarber you almost have to DFA or trade Cooper right?

Preferably trade. Definitely more value there. Maybe offer him to NYY and get something back the team values? Not sure, but it does leave things a bit cramped although I'd hate to see Cooper go (his bat and ability to also play RF helps team have options).

It also depends on whether or not we non-tender Aguilar (and I think the Marlins will end up keeping him). Hard to see Schwarber, Aguilar and Cooper all on the roster. But yeah. Cooper has some value. I would imagine he would draw trade interest.

It feels like they’re ready to move on from one of Aguilar / Cooper. Cooper is the better bat, but his injury concerns and the fact that Agi is a great clubhouse guy makes me lean toward it being Cooper.

Wonder what type of bullpen arm(s) they could get for Cooper?

If they could pay the farm for Bryant, this team is legit.

I posted this in the other thread, but it applies here too.....

My (still) wish list:

-big trade for a notable CF

-a vet innings eater SP - this type of guy always seems to be needed and they didn't bother last year.

-a BIG signing (Correa?  Bryant?).....pipedream, but hey, it's a wish list

-closer?
