Hot Stove (2021-2022 offseason)

if MLB is at 228 mil lux tax now, then thats a great pathway to a deal if there are incremental raises as it goes on, maybe something like 230/232/234/236 or something like that in the later years.

With the increase in revenues coming in, it would more than make that type of tax level more than easy to swallow for almost every owner (except the true fuck you owners, who will never be appeased).

The bonus pool I think the MLBPA is going down in 5 mil increments out of spite, something around 40ish million makes a ton of sense.

The other issues are close enough they can and will find common ground.

This thing is still going on completely based on the owners acting like fucking jackasses on the CBT and the players feeling its acted as a defacto salary cap AND its such a miniscule raise given the added revenue that will be coming in.

If they agree today and 162 is back on does it start on time or is the scheduled pushed back or modified? Because if it starts on time then it's more proof that MLB's previous deadlines were all fake anyways.

Seems it'd be pushed back with off days being replaced with games along with doubleheaders.

goodness they just agreed to ban the shift

Hm, I hadn't seen this.

Hopefully it's just restrictions to 2 players on each side of 2nd or something.

I don't really understand why they're so against baseball going into November.

I thought weather (for northern clubs anyway) was always an excuse too.

I need both sides to confirm progress before I believe it cuz last week MLB told everyone there was progress when there wasn't so that it would look like the player's fault when an agreement wasn't reached. "Well there was progress but the players backed out." Bullshit.

If there is a real proposal for:

CBT at 230 million

Higher min salaries

The bonus pool of money at 50 mil or even a bit north

Players almost need to take that offer.  Thats a 20 mil jump from last year on the CBT.

Even if you have to give up the rule changes thing within 45 days thing, though I'd make a condition that there almost needs to be player input into things.

The 14 team postseason as a concession is whatever.  Once you goto 32 teams, that wont be such an issue.

I'd still like to see addressed how MLB just changed the ball in the middle of last season and didnt bother to tell anyone.

This Apple deal coming out today puts the onus almost on management to push to get a deal done to protect their new revenue streams, even if some piece of shit owners want to bend players over backward. Far too many owners tend to benefit greatly from sharing some of that revenue with players.
