So you get the soup in a regular bowl along with the sandwich?

I'm good with that option.

Yep, with the bread/baguette on the side that's the same type of bread as the bread bowl and I dip it in the soup so I still get the bread bowl flavor without being so full that I can't finish the sandwich. Also when they have the autumn squash soup I'll take that over the broccoli soup even though you can't go wrong with either soup. Tomato soup is sneaky good too with the right sandwich.

If Sherman spends money very soon after the lockout would that change your mind on Jeter leaving because of payroll disagreements?

Basically Mish has implied that Jeter wanted to prospect hoard and sign bigger name free agents. The other voices wanted to get the stars via trade and supplement via free agency. So if they spend money on say a closer, then I think both Mish and Sherman will have been right. That the Marlins are not spending quite what Jeter wanted but not that they are unwilling to spend at all. This line of thinking makes a lot of sense to me, especially based on what we have seen with the teams handling of prospects.

Ultimately I see both the Jeter approach and the other approach (Rays approach?) to be flawed. Prospect hoarding and being too loyal to "your guys" has forced us to sit through Brinson and Isan far longer than we should have. Not being big spenders might make it hard to retain players. If they make savvy enough moves than they are certainly capable of doing as well as the Rays. Perhaps moving on from Jeter will help in that department.

So Yankees dynasty style of the late 90s and 2000s... it's not that easy to do that here.

If we already have the prospects that's the currency needed to acquire the bigger names via trade for a team like the Marlins.

have a feeling Jansen might finally be a marlin after all.

btw: hey queens

Hey @SongInTheAir, what do you think of Mish?

Honestly, I think he has vastly improved professionally and has regained some of his credibility. He still seems to put more weight on being first rather than being right, and a lot of his "reports" are just guesses where he can later cover his ass by saying "I guess it just didn't work out". I'm still not allowed to use him as a source on any of the websites I write for, so that should tell you something about how he's regarded outside of Miami.

Now does it have to be spending money on the Marlins or could Sherman spend a few bucks at Panera Bread and you'd be ok with that?

Motherfucker. I’ve been fighting the urge for a Panera bread bowl for days and you aren’t helping.

I do think it is ok to question him and not just assume everything he says is true cause he says it.

I don’t think everyone is assuming EVERYTHING he says is 100% true.   But on the flip side, it also can’t be assumed that he’s totally wrong all the time either.

This is fair.   I’m an ideal world, you hang onto your prospects AND spend big.  But obviously that won’t happen here.  So straddling a line in between is what has to happen.

I went to Panera recently for the first time in a long time.  Got a soup/salad combo and was reminded why I don’t go very often anymore.   The soup was decent but the sandwich was sad/pathetic.
