I don't think any of us are expecting him to be nearly a 1.000 ops guy but better than Stallings? Quite possible. So that's still an upgrade. Seems like the younger guys definitely prefer him, too. Sandy and Pablo are probably good regardless of who is catching them, but you get guys like Ed, Castano [of all people], Brax, etc all preferring Fortes and doing better. I won't take away from what Stallings has done for Pablo and Sandy either, they definitely have that chemistry, but man ... he should basically just be the personal catcher of those two and Fortes being the starter overall.

Maybe, but Stallings was actually better than Fortes in the Minors. Also, and I know it was small sample size, Stallings actually had an OPS over .900 in his first 2 years. It obviously did not mean that a guy with a mid .700s OPS in the Minors was going to be a star, just like I doubt a guy with a mid .600s is going to be one.

I would love for that to happen, but Realmuto's worst seasons in the Minors were about as good as Forte's total in the Minors. JT had 2 different extended seasons with an OPS over .800 in the Minors. Although, the sprint speed thing is encouraging.
June 27, 20224 yr Author He should get an extended look. Probably start more games then Stallings right now, but if you expect him to remain above average offensively, then I would not hold my breath.

June 27, 20224 yr Nobody here is saying he is the next JT but he is very similar. If he even managed to ops 725 he'd be an upgrade over Stallings. And again, I like he's not a base clogger. League will adjust to him - if he responds back is always the test.
