You're right.  It was just hard to see things getting worse, but they did.

yep.  and there's been PLENTY of time to figure this out.  He's cheaper than Loria and what's worse, he doesn't even appear to want to win.  Loria would at least TRY to bring some good higher priced vets in from time to time when he'd get a wild hair up his ass.  Sherman has done NOTHING except sell a fake bill of good the entire time he's been here.  I will guarantee you that based on what Correa signed for that he'd be on the Marlins team this year if Loria was still around.  Sherman is atrocious and shockingly worse than Loria who was also awful. I can't fathom why anyone would still need more time as he's failed as an owner to do anything with a team just a few pieces away the last TWO seasons now and all the while with a teeny tiny payroll.

But I was one of the first on here at least that said Sherman was worse than Loria.  Go back and read any of the offseason threads especially.  

Loria's regime also got the ball park done, which can't be undersold, especially for a guy who was rumored to move the team every year.  The team also had legit star, exciting players more often than not.

Who cares who called it first!?

You're not getting a trophy or medal for it...

Almost everything wrong with this team is Ng’s fault or a result of poor hitting development/scouting. The moves to be competitive were available this offseason without spending a bunch. Ng is just incompetent. Terrible hire by Jeter.

Maybe he is hands off, and maybe that's the wrong approach if the team is a rudderless pile of oceanic drift garbage.  Should he just ignore how bad the team is because he wants to be hands off?

Setting payroll seems to be an awfully big part of what makes him worse than Loria. Loria would actually go out and make a high priced acquisition from time to time if he thought it would truly make the club turn the corner. They never seemed to pan out and he'd end up trading them away but he would actually try and get some actual GOOD players (or allow his GM to do so anyway)

I don’t have a problem with a general hands off approach, as we got the opposite with Loria who meddled in everything and then we’d acquire Rodney for Paddack.

But when it’s evident the ship is sinking/rudderless for months on end, he should step in in some capacity - whether that be giving Ng a “fire Don” directive or going further by letting her go.

we’ll probably get another season of “full Ng” so she can “fully shape the team to her vision” without influence of others.

Nobody was licking any boots.  It was hesitant hope that things would indeed be different going forward, and that obviously hasn’t proven to be true.   I know I’ve been in the “hopeful, but believe it when I see it” camp, and was willing to give them time to follow the plan and spend when ready.

my concern grew after 2020 when they refused to add anyone noteworthy after an asterisked playoff appearance when salaries were lower than expected, but they got a bit of a covid/revenue pass.

the lack of a truly impactful signing this past offseason was completely inexcusable, IMO, and they haven’t gotten a dime from me this season.

I have absolutely no confidence that they’ll do anything that they should this coming offseason, as they didn’t this past one, so why would they now?
