Here’s the thing. There’s alway a small chance that Salas might develop into an excellent All Star caliber player 4-5 years down the line. And if that were to happen I’m sure there will be some on Twitter who will be quick to jump and say “Seeitoldyouthatwouldhappen!”

Even if that were to happen, still feel like the Marlins made the right decision.

Because if we’re talking about 3-5 years from now. The best thing the Marlins can do to ensure a successful 2025 and 2026 season is to start winning in the 2023 season. Because like the cliche says “nothing succeeds like success”, well, assuming there won’t be another fire sale. 😂

But if the Marlins finish this upcoming season with a least a winning record, they don’t even necessarily have to make it to the playoffs (although that would be nice!) but if they can can maybe finish like 84-78 or 85-77 I feel like that would start a positive snowball effect where maybe next offseason they sign or trade for even better players and so on and so forth, so by the time 2026 season comes, the Marlins will be so well staffed on their roster that even if Arraez is not here anymore and Salas does become an All Star that wouldn’t even be any issue or reason to feel bad because the rest of the team will be so strong and solid with several years of winning records in a row.

This whole deal of developing prospects for the future hasn’t really worked out that great for the Marlins for almost all their history as far as actually helping them have winning seasons. Time to start winning now! 

I’ll repeat it again, the best thing the Marlins can do to ensure successful future seasons is to start winning this season.

Just start with finishing the season above .500 and I feel like a lot of the other issues going forward will start taking care of themselves.

 

Forget about past seasons, yes we still have same owner and same GM, but I’m starting to feel a different vibe for this upcoming season. Donnie’s gone. New manager, new season, new vibe.

I know, just trying to have a positive outlook on things. 😂

But as a long time Marlins fan, I know the realities of life, still always at the beginning of the year, I spend some time with wishful thinking before the reality of life as a Marlins fan sets in by June or so. 😂

June eh?  As a Marlins fan I'd think you know better that we're toast long before then! Honestly, we were DOA from game 1 last season forward as most of us on here 100% knew the offense would completely be dog shit going into the season as-is and nothing notable was done to fix that lineup (or remove a lame duck manager). 

Regarding Salas - I'm just trolling (as you know). He may very well turn into a good player but that's so many years down the road it just wasn't worth hanging onto him to lose out on the Arraez trade.  It's a pity that Bones isn't still helping coach up our infielders as he might be able to make Arraez more valuable to the team.  I'm really excited to a guy in the lineup who can just flat out hit the ball though.  I really wish they could swing a trade for Reynolds but the Pirates are (deservedly) going to ask for Eury in return as Reynolds commands that type of prospect.  Last year, I'd have said they could have targeted Mullins on the Orioles for a little bit less but the O's have a very intriguing team and aren't going to get rid of their starting CF for some unproven guys anymore.

Well, I always hold on to hope until the last possible moment. Like if the Fish are like 21-31 around the end of May. I still want to believe they still have time to get back in it with 4 months left. But usually around the middle of June when the Marlins are still 10-12 under .500 and after a couple of starting pitchers and several starters are on the IL, at that point I’m like “yeah, season’s done”

I don't worry about Kim's public words. She can and should say Jazz will be the best CF ever but that doesn't mean she isn't still trying to improve behind the scenes. Remember she traded Rojas less than a day after saying he's gonna be one of our 1B options this year.
