I'm tempering expectations and whatnot.

I think we're all so scared to believe that they could be up 23-1 in the bottom of the 9th of game 7 of the world series and we'd still be expecting them to lose. At least I sure as hell feel that way.

The Marlins are 14 games over .500 for the first time since the final day of the 2003 season when they were 91-71.

Absolute insanity.

Yeah, more or less. The feeling is still there of "alright what's going to go wrong here" and yet it hasn't really happened much this year.

Still. Give me one this weekend and I'm good. Two is great. A sweep and I'll ban @pollythewog.

Glad I'm not the only one so jaded that I'm still waiting for the bottom to fall out.  Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying this a lot, especially with the Mets epic failure thrown in.

I keep waiting for it too, but the fact of the matter is that this team is 19-7 in June, 23-8 in its last 31 games, 32-16 over its last 48 and has a +59 run differential since May 1...and much of that came without Jazz, not to mention with Sandy slumping and Rogers out.

I think it might finally be time for us to admit that this team is just good.

Seeing this board positive is mesmerizing.

I came back for the first time in almost decades to read that Das Houston guy actually say nice things.

Yea I'm convinced this team is good and has enough of that confidence/"magic" to win any game.

For me it's not about being jaded or waiting for the bottom to fall out, it's more that I know they're "good but not great" and that's why I want them to get to the trade deadline so that they can add and start to patch up some of their holes.

Some of you on here are giving "this is a total fluke" vibes, as if you actually expect them to lose most days. I think we're way past that point.

I truly hope I get banned!!

I can't admit it.  Keeping up with the theme of concern in a 23-1 lead in the bottom of the ninth, I feel as soon as I glow too much about our success it will be a cause of doom.  I will just keep worrying, it seems to be working.

First time sweeping the Red Sox!

14 games over .500!

Run differential now at ZERO!

Jazz homers off Kenley!

Andrew Nardi has the largest fucking nutsack I've ever seen!

PUK YEAH in the ninth again!

Just win one in Atlanta and I'll be pleased.

First time sweeping them ever?

I guess we probably haven't played them too many times over the years.

Yeah, but as we all know, it's hard as a Marlins fan to get too excited....they always seem to have "that month" where they implode.....they've avoided it thus far, and hopefully they avoid it altogether....

But they were never this good any of those years, though. That's the thing.

I am absolutely being cautious with my optimism for this team, because, as @SilverBullet said, I think they are good, not great. But just because past Marlins teams imploded in a certain month doesn't mean this one will. Completely different teams, completely different seasons, completely different circumstances.

I guess we as fans are just conditioned to expect the worst after two decades of it. But I mean, the Royals went to back-to-back World Series in 2014 and 2015 and won it in the latter year, and that was after three decades of missing the playoffs. The Cubs won a title after 108 years. If those things can happen, then the 2023 Marlins can certainly be for real.

You're right - it's more the bold that you said - we're just used to expecting the worst.

They absolutely need to reinforce the team in the deficient areas.  Hopefully Kim is able to make things happen.

Definitely. They need a couple of more bats. They need to add another arm or two because Eury is going to be shut down at some point, and I'm not sure how much they can depend on Rogers, Cueto and Cabrera (and Sixto lol) staying healthy and/or producing.

I will say, though, that if Sandy can get himself together for the stretch run, the Marlins will have a pretty lethal trio of Sandy, Luzardo and Garrett at the top of their rotation even after Eury gets shut down. I think a Sandy turnaround is actually more important (or at least as important) as any deadline deals Kim will make.
