May 4, 20242 yr I’m assuming Arraez is holding out for a severe overpay in free agency. We know the marlins werent going to be the ones to do it, so you have to trade him before he gets injured. May 4, 20242 yr It's definitely a bummer because he's one of the most likeable Marlins ever. But zero chance they were signing him to a $100 million + contract. Might as well get some bodies back. We are 9-24. This definitely has Yelich dumpster fire potential, though.

They were going to trade Pablo at some point. I assume that they are going to follow this with trading Burger, Bell, maybe Edward Cabrera at least. I would say maybe Jazz but I don't know if that would bring back much right now.

May 4, 20242 yr Arraez should absolutely get paid, he has a great bat at a premium defensive position. The Marlins were never going to keep him with this ownership regardless of price so it doesn't matter anyway.

On a macro level, it's more incompetence brought on by a beyond cheap owner that isn't willing to invest in his franchise, and doesn't understand why the team doesn't do well after doing literally nothing. This guys is a bonafide all star level player that excels at his particular role on a team (elite level on base abilities) you can’t trade him for ONE can’t miss fucking player from a team that just happens to have an extra CF, or 1B, or Starter, or whatever fucjing need you’re trying to fill!? They weren’t gonna sign him I get that. But other teams trade a rental player and get back cornerstone players and it’s just never the case with this stupid ass team. No matter who is the fuckihg owner, GM, Assiant GM, concubine, janitor, etc!! Honestly what the fuck?
May 4, 20242 yr The way you have to look at this is would you have traded Pablo for this “haul”? Absolutely not….pablo netted a batting title champion and some still didn’t like the return.
May 4, 20242 yr It helped in the Pablo/Arraez deal that the prospect we threw in, Jose Salas, has absolutely cratered as a prospect since the trade for whatever reason.
