  1. From the AP - BALTIMORE (AP) -Breaking his silence on the inclusion of his name in the Mitchell Report, Baltimore Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts admitted that he used steroids once in 2003. In an interview in Tuesday's editions of The (Baltimore) Sun, Roberts acknowledged that he used steroids "once" in 2003. However, he said he hadn't used steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs since. In a statement he issued to The (Baltimore) Sun, Roberts said that after the single injection he immediately realized that it was not what he "stood for" or anything he wanted to continue doing. He said he's sorry he did it and said he regrets making what he says was a "terrible decision." Roberts was named in the Mitchell Report because former Orioles teammate Admin Bigbie told investigators Roberts had told him he used steroids "once or twice" in 2003. http://sports.excite.com/news/12182007/v3450.html
  2. Interesting that most of these voters are agreeing with the Marlins. I like my poll more. Is it possible to make a post without plugging your site? You're 4 for 4 so far...
  3. I went with "conundrum" as well.
  4. Happy Birthday!
  5. Assuming Micah starts the game as P & DH (obviously in the AL park), does that make him 2 players (ie, if he's taken out as P can he stay in as DH)? There must be some arcane rule about this, although I've never seen (or even thought about) it before now. I believe he counts as one player - if the Diamondbacks want him to hit, they start the game with no DH and go the entire game without one.
  6. Interesting. Anyone else having trouble staying logged in? Not so far...
  7. Phil Hughes didn't allow a hit when he left the game after injuring his hamstring on May 1st (6.1 IP). Four days later, Chien-Ming Wang went into the 8th with a no-hitter before giving up a home run.
  8. isn't this old news? No, although he has been battling cancer for awhile. http://apnews.excite.com/article/20070906/D8RFTEMG0.html
  9. Happy Birthday!
  10. Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing.
  11. We are actually 42-47. His numbers come from the record after 81 games (the mathematical end to the first half). The total record comes from adding the 5 wins and 3 losses since that point.
  12. I was scared when the skin changed to Billy for awhile... I wasn't expecting to be stared at! But nice job with the changes! :thumbup
  13. It has to do with Abreu batting over .450 in the last 2 weeks, Cano playing better, and having a healthy rotation. That, and that now Damon is DHing (most of the time), there is someone out there (Melky) who has an arm in center. Damon is hitting a bit better as a DH, and Melky is hitting with some consistent playing time. I'm rooting for them to pass Boston. :thumbup
  14. ...the Sox believe Abreu is a slow starter and his best baseball this season is ahead of him. I agree with this. He may not hit 20+ home runs anymore, but if he can rebound to what he did for the Yankees last year it will give a huge boost to the team. I think things started to click during the Boston series, as he was spraying the ball around to all fields (as well as hitting the ball hard). His eye has also come back recently too.
  15. Although I didn't see it, I heard he pushed Cano down while trying to break up a double play by elbowing him... :| The Yankee announcers seemed to think it was unnecessary.
  16. Yikes. You're not kidding.
  17. And this surprises who? I actually made the prediction yesterday that sometime in his next three starts he would leave with some sort of injury. Guess I was right. :mischief
  18. 98 again? Happy Birthday!
  19. Happy Birthday!
  20. He's in George's luxury box at Yankee Stadium and just made the announcement.
  21. That's a shame. With all the pitching problems the Yankees are having lately, this isn't good news. Hopefully Wang, Mussina, Pettite, Igawa, and Rasner can get the job done...
  22. Happy Birthday!
  23. if you could get a camcorder that records 24p and in high def for only $1000 you'd be stupid not to get it. what format is it on minidv? Yes, it's Mini-DV.
