Following the postponement of their three-game weekend series with the Chicago Cubs -- the team they are chasing for the NL's Wild Card playoff berth -- the Marlins plan to take batting practice in the stadium's indoor cages. Florida has a scheduled day off on Monday, prior to hosting the New York Mets in the opener of a three-game series Tuesday night. No makeup dates have been confirmed for the three games against the Cubs, although it is widely accepted that one of the games will be made up as part of a doubleheader during the Marlins' Sept. 10-12 visit to Chicago. Meanwhile, much of south Florida continues to feel the effects of the second hurricane within weeks to batter the state. An estimated 1.6 million residents were still without power as of Sunday afternoon. There are also reports of heavy damage to Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter, the Florida State League home of both Marlins and Cardinals affiliates. Several power towers have reportedly toppled, including one atop the clubhouse of the Cardinals, who also make their Spring Training home at Roger Dean Stadium.
