The Official I Want to Apologize to Enc Thread
I still think we should trade him now while his value is high. I would hate to see him go playing this well, but i cant believe itll last all year. 751138 I think it can last all year. He certainly has the tools to do extremely well. And the fact that he's become significantly more patient shows that he is likely to maintain this success. If he's swinging at mostly strikes then I think he'll continue to do extremely well. 751141 I hope your right for his sake and the team's sake. 751143 hey we always have conine and aguila if he falters...

was AL LIETER
no man...i understand wat ur saying but the thing that got me mad is he has no field awareness...like yesterdays bunt single by none other than ramon castro...come on man this guy is wut u said a PITCHING COACH....... 751107 How was that play solely Al Leiter's fault? And I said he is a pitching coach partially as a bonus. 751109 if he had awarenes like any other pitcher he should have gone to first...no but he goes back looking like he's gonna catch the ball then tries to go to first and castro beats it for a single..come on man...
-
was AL LIETER
LOL my god 751101 We should come to expect this, right? If Delgado was 0-30 right now, there'd be threads questioning if he was a good signing. I truly believe that. 751103 no man...i understand wat ur saying but the thing that got me mad is he has no field awareness...like yesterdays bunt single by none other than ramon castro...come on man this guy is wut u said a PITCHING COACH.......plus the guy didn't really even wanna come to florida...
-
was AL LIETER
was he worth signing???or let one of our young pitchers come up and try to help us win??this guy has no field awarness example(the bunt by castro he should have gone to first)....now i know why they didn't want him back in NY..please post ur thoughts..

I want A.J to have his breakout season next year.
The very thought (as opined in the headline of this thread) makes me want to vomit. We live in the here and now. 2006 is a million years away. Let's ride Burnett and company as far as they will take us and be thankful he's here contributing and making the Marlins a better team. 746466 couldn't have said it better myself.... :thumbup :thumbup

House panel chief deals a blow to the Marlins
UPDATE: By BRENT KALLESTAD Associated Press Writer TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A bid by Miami-Dade County officials for $60 million in state money to help build a new Florida Marlins baseball stadium suffered a blow Friday when a key lawmaker said his pivotal committee would not hear the proposal. "I don't see any reason for it to be heard," said Rep. Fred Brummer, a certified public accountant from Apopka who chairs the House Finance and Tax Committee. "It's got to have something going for it for us to use working family's tax dollars and I've seen nothing in the bill that this is a good use of tax dollars." And House Speaker Allan Bense, R-Panama City, has said consistently that he won't force his committee chairs to hear bills they have doubts about. "He picks the chairmen he trusts to look out for the best interests of the people and that's Fred Brummer's job," Bense spokesman Towson Fraser said Friday. "He's doing his job." Brummer described the county's economic analysis "tepid at best" and cited previous commitments from the Legislature to professional sports franchises as the main reason they were being asked to kick in again. "If the Dade county taxpayers support it, God bless 'em," Brummer said Friday. "If they want to use Dade County taxes for it, that's fine. I think they can get it done on their own." Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez was unavailable Friday afternoon to comment, spokeswoman Susie Trutie said, and Miami Mayor Manny Diaz did not immediately a telephone message at his office. They are looking for a $60 million state subsidy to help them build a $420 million government-owned stadium that would be rented to the Marlins for its 81 baseball dates each year. Team officials have unsuccessfully sought state assistance three times previously and claim they could be forced to move elsewhere if they don't get a new ballpark. The Marlins now play home games in the reconfigured confines of the home field of the NFL's Miami Dolphins in northern Miami-Dade County. The measure is still alive in the Senate despite opposition by that chamber's leadership. It also has the backing of Gov. Jeb Bush and Bense's designated successor, Rep. Marco Rubio, R-Miami, who could use his growing political clout in the House to rally support for the ballpark if a Senate bill comes through. After bouncing around for several weeks, the Senate version (SB 1306) finally gained some traction when it came through the Commerce and Consumer Services Committee on a 6-2 vote Wednesday. That measure creates an additional slot for the team to qualify for an annual $2 million subsidy administered by the Office of Tourism, Trade and Economic Development and the quasi private Enterprise Florida, Inc. However, Senate President Tom Lee, R-Brandon, is on the record that he wants any proposal to include a request for money for a NASCAR Hall of Fame in Volusia County and another request from the Orlando Magic to refurbish its 16-year-old downtown arena. A poll earlier this year by Quinnipiac University reported more than three-fourths of those surveyed opposed tax dollars going to stadium costs. link 743021 why the hell are u always so damn negative man....is this ur job to be an a$$ all the time??? 743023 Yes, he is a Phillie or Cubs fan in disguise 743026 oh ok thanks for the clarification...now i know y he's an a$$ all the time...

House panel chief deals a blow to the Marlins
this is what i wrote in my email to brummer... Dear Mr. Brummer, My name is James LaPointe and i currently live in massachusetts, however i was born in miami and i love with all my heart all of the major sports franchises down there especially the Florida Marlins. In the past year, the rest of the country got to see an amazing run to the world series title by the Boston Red Sox and how much that meant to their fans. As a Marlins fan, i have had the blessing of getting to celebrate two world titles and i couldnt be any happier. Baseball is our past time and as an american i cant imagine not having my favorite team to root for. If the new stadium bill doesnt pass in the house i will no longer have my team to root for and that is something im unwilling to except. If i could give my own money to see this stadium built i would but alas i am not that financially secure. If you have ever traveled to massachusetts then im sure you can see how much the game is loved by new englanders. If anyone tried to take the red sox away from them there surely would be complete anarchy here. The sox have a tradition of decades on their side. This tradition needs time to build in Florida and without a new stadium i fear that they will be forced to move or contract the team. As for the argument that a new stadium will not help the community economically that is purely ridiculous. Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots was recently built not far from my house and i have seen many new restaurants and hotels and such put in, plus the generated parking revenues. A new stadium for the marlins in the heart of miami will be their own fenway, where the people will flock to see such an exciting team playing the greatest game on earth. To steal a line from one of the greatest baseball movies ever "If you build it, they will come" and i know that ill be there on opening day if this new stadium gets built. I hope and pray that you give the marlins their fair chance as they have brought me memories that will last a life time and i am only 23 sir. I love baseball and baseball belongs in miami. The team went to bat for us and won us two titles, lets go to bat for them and get them a much deserved stadium where the people of miami can enjoy them for many years to come. I thank you for your time and i hope that this message touches not only your mind, but your heart. good day sir. 743002 :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy .....nice post man

McKeon sticking it to the man
Hey I have them all beat. I threw (if you want to my pitching "pitching") almost 400 pitches (to LLers ahem) last night and I'm ready to go tonight again. :brigginbounce I only beaned one kid. 742804 :lol If Jack was making our pitchers throw 140 pitches a game then I would be worried but our pitchers have not thrown over 118 pitches. This morning I checked the paper and Livan threw over 120 pitches. I am not sure what he threw his last 2 starts. If our pitchers are keeping their pitch count down then pitching a CG wouldnt bother me, but once they start throwing over 130 then I will get mad at Jack :mad 742849 now now holly this isn't like u ....belive in jack remember its only 9 games he WILL have to use his bullpen..... :thumbup

ESPN Power Rankings
I'd say it's pretty outragous to consider the Braves better than the Marlins at this point. 742215 Who has won the division the last decade plus? Who finished third in the division last year? Who is 2-1 against the other team? You would be damned to say the Marlins are better than the Braves. 742218 I don't care what anybody says, last year has nothing to do with anything. Or the twelve seasons prior to that. The bottomline is that the Marlins and Braves have the same overall record, which is the only record that matters, and Florida is visably playing as well as any team in the majors. As opposed to the Braves, who have been blown out in almost all of their losses, the Marlins could VERY easily be 7-2, staying in the game until the last out is made almost every time the step on the field. 742299 well put..... :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy :notworthy

THEEEEEE METS WIN!!!!!
Reason why Mets won was because they didn't go to the bullpen. Keep this up with Pedro and your chances for contention will dissapear quicker than you can say Grady Little. 737516 :lol :lol :lol :lol how true that is........
