College football: 1) I'd say Florida/Georgia. I've often heard Florida has the loudest fans, and that Georgia has the best tailgaters. Throw that together in a neutral setting in a place like Jacksonville, and you indeed come up with the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. 2) Auburn/Georgia. It's the oldest rivalry of the Deep South. There's just a great amount of mystic in that. Stadiums full of girls in sundresses, guys in coat and tie, old alumni getting drunk, and just a great Deep South rivalry. 3) Can I include the Egg Bowl? 4) Texas/Oklahoma...it's like Diet Florida/Georgia.

I've been to Charlotte. I didn't feel like it had any flavor. It was full of people in their lower and mid-20s who were single and working 100 hour weeks in the banking/investment world. I know a couple fraternity brothers who work there now. It's not the scene for me, but plenty like it.
