Loria To Pocket Stadium Construction Savings?
I'm surprised that Arizona retired Luis Gonzalez's number. Maybe the way they retire a number is the same way we retire a number. Luis Gonzalez died? Really, Conine's 19 should be retired. I'm not sure anyone else deserves it except maybe Dawson's 8 and Perez' 24 because of their years on the front office staff- and Dawsons contributions to South Florida Baseball.

Loria To Pocket Stadium Construction Savings?
speaking of how great the stadium is... saw this on another forum the other day: the Jackie Robinson memorial 42 in the outfield is like a sticker or something that's peeling off :lol They should remove that thing....other teams don't have his number up. Why can't a team that didn't exist even when he died not have it up. Especially when it's the only number celebrated. The Diamondbacks are farther removed from Jackie Robinson than us, and their #42 at Chase Field is much nicer; I believe it's even back-lit. See it here: Link The Marlins', by comparison, is embarrasingly low rent. People should take more pride in what they do, no matter how big or small the job. Someone will always notice when you cut corners. Check this out, you'll see the different ways it's done around MLB. Since we don't have a retired number we should reserve the 42 for when something can go alongside of it. Yes he transcended the game, but the way it's displayed at Marlins Park is like he's being ostracized all over again. http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/90971-post-jackie-robinsons-42-from-around-the-majors/page__st__20

Loria To Pocket Stadium Construction Savings?
[/$642 million for ballpark and parking facility agreement cost the county $384 million, the Marlins $131 million, and the city $127 million, mostly for the stadium’s six garages. Yet the Marlins collect almost 100 percent of the revenue, including those coming from concessions, concerts and parking fees. Why must all journalist twist or ignore facts that give people an informed opinion? Reading that without knowledge of the facts says the Marlins do not pay rent or buy those parking spaces at $10 a pop regardless of them selling out. The city built the Garages knowing they will have the tenants paying for them and they will recover some of the costs, along with having the Marlins pay for onsite off duty and on duty police officers (creating more gameday jobs). Not to mention the city's impact of hotels and taxes of the tourists coming to see concerts/soccer/whatever they do in the park.

Loria To Pocket Stadium Construction Savings?
Gonna be a lot more articles like this in the future. Public opinion on ownership is way down so bashing them sells papers. Had the team at least made the playoffs, then the early 2012 pre-season love fest would continue and the chest thumpers would still be thumping. People that know how to think for themselves formed their opinions early on. They don't need, "See? See? I told you" type articles to help them along. The masses are sheep, awaiting their slaughter.

Loria To Pocket Stadium Construction Savings?
I bet Loria had the civil engineers break every code in the book to save a few bucks. This. As if I needed another reason not to go back to that stadium.speaking of how great the stadium is... saw this on another forum the other day: the Jackie Robinson memorial 42 in the outfield is like a sticker or something that's peeling off :lol They should remove that thing....other teams don't have his number up. 30 fucking colors and all of them match up with another. They should have put little team logos over each color. It looks like Miami has fans in Colorado and South Florida.

Nelson Cruz, Gio Gonzalez and A-Rod linked to Miami PED supplier.
http://www.miaminewtimes.com/2013-01-31/news/a-rod-and-doping-a-miami-clinic-supplies-drugs-to-sports-biggest-names/ If this story checks out, you can forget about ARod in the HOF. Gio Gonzalez is a surprise though. Arod wasn't getting into the HOF after he admitted to Boly or whatever the heck it was he got from the DR

2012-2013 Florida Panthers/NHL Thread
It was more of it being the usual in South Florida, like the heat Pre Lebron and the Phins occasionally. I don't think we have anything past 2 years with money on it, Brian Campbell is about it. And Campbell for Luongo isn't bad for the Canucks so I wonder why they won't take it. I just hope the Cats aren't offering him. Bahahahahahahahahaha The Canucks won't take it because the Panthers aren't stupid enough to offer that. Why in the world would you want to trade Brian Campbell? I was so wondering what money we could send and Campbell was all the money I could think of. If the Canucks don't want to take on the money, and all we really have is Campbell, why won't they take Campbell. I did say I don't want to cats to trade him, the last line in my last post.

2012-2013 Florida Panthers/NHL Thread
Bruce Garrioch Quote: Lots of teams are waiting to see where the dominos fall with Vancouver G Roberto Luongo before making a move for a netminder. Canucks GM Mike Gillis has told several teams he's not doing anything until he gets his asking price. Yes, the Edmonton Oilers have what it takes to acquire Luongo, but he wouldn't approve a trade there. The Panthers don't want to make a deal unless Gillis is willing to take cash back. The Canucks know the pressure is mounting in some markets to win and they'll find a desperate GM trying to save his job, maybe even Washington or Philly. http://www.ottawasun.com/2013/01/26/...ter-slow-start In his interview with Cam Cole he mentioned about teams saying they're offering good players / prospects, but saying they need to take "contract" back, meaning Florida I saw the above and it made sense, figured others might want to see it too. Makes sense the Marlins, I mean Panthers want the Canucks to take money back in return but what money could we possibly be sending them?

Loria, Trainers, and the Marlins
I think it might be Randy Choate- if I remember his quotes from the Hanley trade (I can't find them) they seem to be from the same person.

Loria, Trainers, and the Marlins
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/2013/01/more-loria-behavior-criticized-dolphins-heat-canes-chatter.html This is as damning an article as I've seen about him. Nevermind his bottom line budget, but this look into how poorly run the Marlins are from top to bottom and the players feelings towards the owner and trainer is as ugly as I've seen. ### Four agents told me their players cannot trust that their injuries and rehabilitations will be handled correctly because of lack of confidence in the training staff -- a problem that a former Marlin attributes to Loria’s loyalty to trainer Sean Cunningham. Who do you think the player is? I think it's Hayes or even Ozzie Guillen based on the amount of F bombs, with the language edited a bit to read easier. Maybe it's Lomo too (based on the rehab comments).

Marlins Insider
I don't see any comparison that would put Stanton in only the $3-5 million range in his first year. He might not be a $9-10 million player, but if he stays healthy I'd expect something in the $7-8 range to be within the realm of possibility. Cabrera got $7.4M in '07. With salary inflation over 7 years ('07 to '14) and with Stanton having outplayed Cabrera (slightly) through their first 2.5 years, I don't see why Stanton would only get what Cabrera got. The $7M to $8M number seems too low. Ryan Howard won $10 Million in Arbitration after a 47 HR, .268 BA and 200K Season. All of those number seem very, very attainable for Stanton. The Phillies offered Howard $7MM basing that number on what Cabrera earned his first time through. Except the $10 Million. I bet Stanton earns about $11 in arbitration for more HR's, a Higher BA and the same amount of K's.

Neither goalie played well, either way. A goalie change can rejuvenate a team. At this point why not. 48 Games is not a long time to plug and play with lineups hoping they work for qualifying for the postseason.

I'm not impressed by this for the Braves. Were they caught up in trying to unite the Uptons or do they truly believe this is an upgrade?

Juan Carlos Oviedo (Leo Núñez) signed by Rays
How many teams honestly gave him a ST invite? Just one, maybe two including the rays.

Juan Carlos Oviedo (Leo Núñez) signed by Rays
I can see this as being a long one year tryout, and the spring training invite as just a perk and a way to have their personal trainers rehab him at the facility all spring training while being instructed by the rays coaching staff for a September call up.
