  1. Yeah, never ever, but... If he does head to Seattle, look for a weaker hold on Adam Jones
  2. Yeah, Miggy is the only one going... Hanley could possibly sneak in... but I doubt it. SS is too stacked. He definitely deserves it though... he's been our most consistent bat of the year.
  3. Garza or Slowey for Boone? Not gonna happen in a million years. Don't be "that" fan who makes the ridiculous trade proposals. I thought I was being too optimistic by hoping for a talented two pitch Single A relief pitcher. Which is why I wouldn't want a trade to happen...if a team is going to trade something of value for a 1B/3B, they're going to trade for somebody with more value then Boone. If somebody is going after Boone, the chances of them actually giving up somebody valuable is slim . I'd give Boone & one of our young arms (like Marceaux, Tucker, or even Sinkbeil) up for someone like Slowey.
  4. They won't give up Garza... I'd do it for Slowey in a heartbeat though
  5. Yeah... why the f not I say
  6. Chris Coghlan is most definitely a prospect. Lou is right... even before this first half of the season he was teetering on prospect status. He's a stud, I can't wait for his promotion... it will have to happen soon. You can't let a guy absolutely blister A ball for too long.
  7. Amezaga CF Uggla 2B Ramirez SS Cabrera 3B Willingham LF Boone 1B Olivo C Wood DH Carroll RF Andy Gonzalez LF Iguchi 2B Konerko 1B Dye RF Fields 3B Terrero CF Uribe SS Cintron DH Hall C Willis vs. Danks Thome has a stiff back, so he's taking the night off vs. a lefty. And good luck to you guys the rest of this season as of about this time tomorrow when the series is over. This is over half our lineup... Alfredo Amezaga Aaron Boone Jason Wood Miguel Olivo Brett Carroll That's incredible.
  8. We are now only 4 losses behind atlanta. Josh Johnson is on his way back in about 2 weeks. And we have 15 of the next 21 games at home. The 6 road games are at kc and at the white sox, both who have losing records. Mike Jacobs could be back at the end of the month as well. I think we have a chance to get right back in the mix. Too bad we're 12-15 at home, while 18-16 on the road.

Does anyone know if Sean West will see action at all this year?
  10. I expect DTrain's ERA to improve towards his career average. I expect Olsen to continue to pitch poorly because I'm not impressed by pitchers who have poor command and who are unable to compensate for the poor command by either overpowering or fooling hitters. Most of the fab five are nowhere to be found in BA's top 50 or 100 prospects which leads me to believe that they are overhyped (shocking!) and even if the hype is true I don't think any of them are expected to reach this level in '08 and this team's window ends in '08. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/featu...223top100c.html Yeah, they are/were on the Top 100. Olsen, Sanchez, Johnson, Volstad and get this... Yusmerio Petit were all on the BA Top 100 in 06' In fact Olsen was higher than any of them. The Marlins won't do anything with Dontrelle this year, I don't think. But, I don't think he will be playing with us next year if we could get a guy like Cameron Maybin, Adam Jones, or Jeff Clement, along with some good pitching.
  11. Here are my proposals. Trade #1 TB Gets: SP Dontrelle Willis IF Robert Andino FLA Gets: CF Rocco Baldelli SP Jamie Shields IF Jorge Cantu Trade #2 TOR Gets: SP Dontrelle Willis IF Robert Andino OF Joe Borchard FLA Gets: OF Alexis Rios SP Gustavo Chacin RP Jeremy Accardo / Brandon League IF Russ Adams Those deals are not feasable. Maybe if you threw in Volstad and/or Thompson, and another decent starter like Willingham, Jacobs, or Uggla... but even then, not that fantastic of a deal for anyone.
  12. :thumbdown Barton is a low B level prospect who should not be the centerpiece for any Dontrelle trade. Come on now. :lol :lol Are we talking about the same Brian Barton with the career .318/.420/.498 stat line and 70 SB to 22 CS(76% success rate) in the minors? The one who is 25? Because if that is the same Brian Barton you have no idea what your talking about. Not saying I want to trade Dontrelle to acquire him, but "low b level prospect" is a laughable terminology. There is no reason why he would ever be the centerpiece to a deal for Willis Never said he should be. Just calling him a "low B level prospect" is silly. I never wanted him as a Centerpiece. I like Barton a lot, and he isn't going anywhere soon in Cleveland. I think he is more attainable now than ever, so he might be a little undervalued which would be an awesome grab. Dontrelle's value will be shot by next year... the offseason is the longest you can hold off. Barton should not be a centerpiece, and if we can grab an advanced prospect arm of equal value to Barton, and maybe one of a little less, I would take that in a heartbeat.
  13. I would love to get Brian Barton from the Indians since they are locked up in the outfield. If they would throw up a good pitching prospect or 2, I would send Dontrelle over there in a heartbeat.
  14. Id say two and possibly 3 of the sophomores have "great stuff" I'd say 2... Olsen and Johnson. Give up a couple years and they will be hellish pitchers somewhere.
  15. Man, everyone hated Mitre 3 months ago. Funny how things change. And take it easy on Scotty... he is good. Everyone knows he's good. He has had streaks like Mitre is having right now, he has a dominating pitch like Mitre does, there's no reason to go Scotty bashing. He'll get it together, and I have a very strong belief that by the time he is 27 he will be a strong #2 on any team. I don't know why some of you always feel the need to jump on some player's bandwagon and act like you have to hate another player. They're all on the same team. You can root for them all to do well. As far as Mitre goes, how can someone suggest he doesn't have good stuff when his sinker is killer? The sinker is such a great pitch. It breaks bats and it's hard to hit anywhere but on the ground. Visions of Kevin Brown anyone? Olsen may eventually be ok and I want him to do well, but right now he is not getting the job done and he acts like a baby. I think Joe did a great job keeping him in line. His stuff is not all that impressive to me, but when he has control of it he can effective, as he has shown in the past. Starting pitching is the key to this (and any) team's success. People like to cry about our centerfield and catcher situation, but I think the FO is correct to not make any rash moves. It would be great to add one more effective starting pitcher, but where are you going to find that? This is still a team being built for the future and if they can win this year that's great, but we should not sacrifice what will help us down the road. I think the best option is just to wait on the young pitchers to come around and see what happens. The Rockies. His name is Kim, and he dealt tonight.
  16. just call up Jacoby Ellsb.... f*** Who did the Sox want from us? Maybe somehow we can kidnap him. What kind of deal would it take? I bet Cody Ross and couple prospects would do it... Maybe Sinkbeil Ross Tucker
  17. Man... I don't get the aboslute abhoration for Scotty on this board. The kid is 23 years old, and he's in his 2nd full season. He's a raw dude, but his stuff really is excellent... we've seen him absolutely own teams. If we want to talk about our sophmore pitchers, Scotty is the only one going out there. He's made every effing start. He's young, his runs will come in droves... this happens with almost every young pitcher in the league. But he has done some incredible things for a kid his age. I mean look at our organization... he's the same age as Brett Sinkbeil, he's the same age his 1st season as Gaby and Vandy are now. He's that far developed. I know it's frustrating, and I am frustrated with his performance more than anyone, but he is 23, not unstable, or egotistical, or whatever else you want to say... he's just 23.
  18. I would expect RVH since he has already seen time, and is pitching well in AA. Gaby has collapsed his last couple outings, but he hasn't been stellar all year. I can't really think of anyone else that is at the point of being called up. I would HATE to see the Marlins throw Thompson in there... he just recently starting to throw well. Maybe Mildren, who had a good start to this year at AAA, but has been flailing for awhile. I think he pitches tonight, actually. He would be my vote since he has been seeing AAA all year.
  19. marlins are such a weird creature, they get swept by the mets at home and now they go on and sweep the cubs away. anyway... awesome series boys The NL Central is baaaad this year. The Cubs are much worse than anticipated this year. are they ever going to be good? I think it's time for them to call up Pie. Pie's not going to save them. He's already been up there once this year.
  20. marlins are such a weird creature, they get swept by the mets at home and now they go on and sweep the cubs away. anyway... awesome series boys The NL Central is baaaad this year. The Cubs are much worse than anticipated this year.
  21. Thompson and Taylor were tattooed tonight Tattooed seems too nice of a word.
  22. Boone's approaching Andy Fox utility infielder territory for me. Fantastic showing by Miggy, Hammer, Uggla, Hermida tonight. Mitre looked real good again, hope that cramp is nothing serious. (Makes me openly wonder about our intentions for him, and our rotation now). Also huge to give Gregg the night off before what should be a really tight Brewers series. Open question to you all, are we winning at this clip because of the lineup shuffle, or despite it? I think despite it. I still want Hanley back in the leadoff spot and Cabs batting 3rd. I'm not sure if there's a link between Hanley's slump and where he is in the lineup (maybe trying to do too much?) but we need his bat leading off. I just don't see Ramirez as a consistent RBI man right now; that could change in the future. I'm with you, I feel his productivity is much more significant right now from the leadoff spot. Maybe 3rd at a different time but now, we need him back at leadoff. He has cooled tremendously. I mean, he is hitting .277 from the 3 spot, and his OBP has also decreased a great deal (he dropped below .400 a couple nights ago for the first time this season, and his improved OBP is where a huge value increase came in the early part of this season). And, his RBI's have not increased whatsoever. Because I know Dan Uggla has been on a tear as of late, but he can't get on base consistently enough and we have no leadoff hitter, so there really aren't that many opportunities. I would like to see something like this... Hanley (there's nothing wrong with power in the front) Hermida (he's getting on track as of late, and his OBP potential is insane) Boone (I don't know what to say about Boone, except I am very impressed as of late... he belongs in a run production slot) Cabs (Clean it up) Willingham (potential for tons of RBI's) Uggla (He's becoming more and more of a power hitter, not a consistent hitter of average, he needs to clean stuff up here in the mids) Amezaga / Abercrombie / De Aza / Please God, someone else... (Leadoff? For real?) Olivo (Major League Baseball? For Real?) P
  23. you people make it seem like Reggie is suuuuuuch a better player then Amezaga. Better than Amezega? Damn, Reggie is better than Jesus.
  24. They are starting to get their rotation back... they skipped an outing with Tucker, and of course Sinkbeil was on the DL for that short while. But yeah... Volstad, Tucker, Thompson, Sinkbeil, and they have been throwing Jesus Silva out there who is older (25) than most of these guys, but has performed well as of late.
  25. Look out for the improving Aaron Thompson starting tonight against Palm Beach, as well as what might be Graham Taylor's last start in Greensboro.
