A-hole of the game 6/25
Guys, the group that got into a fight was in the extreme right corner of the Fish Tank, as close to the triangle as you can get. They probably didn't show it on TV obviously. The cops came and kicked out the rays fans. I refuse to capitalize any part of their name anymore. F*** them. $hit hole of a city.

A-hole of the game 6/25
Did anyone see the fight that broke out between Fish and Gays fans? It was super.

Scott Olsen
Guys, win-loss record is the most meaningless thing in baseball. I refuse to even call it a stat. A stat offers insight into how good a pitcher is. Obviously Olsen's record doesn't tell others that he's been a good pitcher this year. Yeah, that's not what this thread is about. It's about the fact that he is pitching well and he is only 4-4, which says that he isn't getting any help from the team. Isn't getting any help from the team? So, what, are we supposed to be more concerned with Olsen claiming wins rather than the team getting them? Interesting. Maybe I didn't make myself clear: I understand what's being discussed here, the fact that he has poor run support. Bottom line is, though, Olsen HAS pitched well, and that's all we can ask from him. He has given the team a chance to win more often than not. Listen, I don't care if Olsen gets a no-decision for the rest of the year. As long as he pitches well, and the Marlins win, even if one of the relievers claims the win, we should all be happy. That is, if our goal is to see the Marlins win. If you're more concerned with seeing Olsen discussed in the Cy Young race, by all means continue discussing in this thread.

Let's go FISH! I'll be in the Fish Tank folks, the section where the people that can't afford to buy their kids nachos sit.

Idea for Mass Voting
I swear to god, if anyone of you guys have the guts to say anything about global warming ever in your lives, you will be the biggest hypocrites. Why? ... i guess maybe he meant we're wasting paper ...

Idea for Mass Voting

Now that Hammer is back...what do you want the lineup to look like?
1. Hanley SS 2. Gonzo RF 3. Cantu 3B 4. Uggla 2B 5. Hammer LF 6. Jacobs 1B 7. Cody CF 8. Treanor C Gonzo has nearly identical hitting numbers to Hermida, in 44 less PAs. Plus, Gonzo strikes out MUCH less.

Boston Celtics
This was a nightmare Finals for me. For one, I hate Kobe and I hate the New England area. Both entities have a monopoly on the media. I can't turn on ESPN without some deuschbag spitting out "Youk does it again!" or some sh*t about the Patriots or Kobe. There is no Celtics-Lakers rivalry. That is a thing of the past. That is the identity other eras, respectfully so. The identity of this generation of basketball so far is the Pistons and Spurs. That is now passing. But please, I just hope the NBA gives us some originality this time around, not the whole superficial, nostalgic Lakers-Celtics crap. Go Heat. :hat

Fans of other teams thrive off the low attendance at Dolphins Stadium.
I'm done worrying about the whole attendance thing. Whenever the enemy brings it up, I just express my love for the Marlins and how fun they are to watch; don't even bother trying to argue with them. This organization is young, and attendance will only increase as the people who were 7-12 years old in the '90s begin to have kids and those kids (hopefully) are Marlins fans thanks to their parents. This is all theoretical, of course. The best way you can help attendance is to do some crazy shouting when you're at the games, impress the first-time attendees, and make them want to come back for more games. That's what I do. High-five as many people as you can.

6/11 -- Marlins vs. Phillies
Let's get the whole 'young, tall lefties' thing out of the way. Done.
-
Disappointing turnout
I think that the lack of attendance this season can be merely attributed to bad luck; we're having a good year but in a bad economic environment where gas is expensive as hell and the stadium isn't around the corner. Let's hope Obama can help out the Fish.

Post game 6/04 MARLINS BEAT BRAVES
I dedicate this win to the first base umpire.

We all know MLBTR is questionable
It's just my opinion, but I think any moves we make should be for pitching. Our offense is gaining it's groove back; runs were and still aren't the concern of this team.

Lovely Post Game Thread 5/30/08
Mark "Five Innings" Hendrickson was finally exposed for the fraud that he is. This team flat out has no pitching. What, suddenly we're New York fans criticizing our own individual players instead of realizing that it was a collective failure? Let's not condescend to their level, guys. Stay positive!

Marlins vs Giants - 5/24 @ 7:10 PM
Gonna be at the game tonight with my brother. It's pretty amazing, the past three games I've been to, B-Bop has been the starter. And it's not like I do it on purpose. The first time was against the Nationals and we got a walk-off hit from Wes. The second time was last Sunday and we got crushed by the Royals. And now today. Hope third time's the charm for him and me.

Who's your All-Time favorite Marlin?
I'd have to say Antonio Alfonseca. I remember going to games with my dad as a kid and finding this man to be be really exciting, especially the idea that he had more than 10 fingers. :lol But in all honestly, I don't like to choose favorite players or buy their jerseys for that matter. I cheer for the team, period, which is a good thing considering the rate at which the Miami sports scene has been changing over the past few years.

How long have you been a Marlins fan.
I felt I should say this cause the guilt was starting to boil inside. At age 15, in 2004, I got all caught up with the Red Sox thing. Bandwagoned til last year. Last year I read Bill Simmons' "Now I Can Die In Peace" and he raised some points about what being a fan is, and they just hit home with me. I finished the book in September of last year, and I proceeded to give away all my Red Sox stuff and decided once and for all that I wanted to cheer for the hometown team. Thus began my love for the Marlins. My parents were stunned when one day I just dumped a bunch of Red Sox crap on their bed and told them "Do with it as you wish". I went from being an avid and well-educated bandwagoner that could name the manager of most of the Red Sox farm teams to straight out loathing them. I'm not gonna lie, right now, my hate for the Red Sox outweighs my love for the Marlins. I'm working on striking a balance at the moment.

5/23 Postgame
At least this game reminded us that the NBA Playoffs are on.

If the Heat draft Beasley..
I'm not a Heat fanatic, but if they get the 1st pick, I'm gonna take a wild guess, and say they take Rose, from Memphis. Riley hasn't been happy with the PG situation, since the Heat won the title a couple years ago. and I would agree with you.

Diamondbacks @ Marlins 5/20 - 7:10 PM
We've gotta prove ourselves in this series. Let's make a statement fellas. :bandit

What does everyone think about...
I'm sure Fredi has already thought about throwing him into the rotation. The only reason I believe he hasn't done it is because there really isn't a reason to panic. We're still in first place despite some bumps the last 7 games. This move will gain more merit if and when the Marlins approach .500.
-
Royals @ Marlins 5/18- 1:10PM
I'll be at the game today with my buddy. The last game I went to B-Bop was also pitching, against the Nationals and he went only 3 innings. He's only gotten through 6 twice in his 7 starts. I hope he does well today.
