Carlos Rodon Slipping: Would You Take Him?
We have Chad Wallach at Greensboro, Austin Barnes at Jupiter, Jacob Realmuto at Jacksonville all doing well at catching. Drafting Alex Jackson for catching would be overkill at this point, and his development would be alot longer. We should move Jackson to OF immediately to expedite his development.

I'm starting to see most mocks now have us selecting Alex Jackson.

Jim Callis from MLB.com predicts Aiken to go to the Marlins as well as some other mocks, for example, this one: http://twinsdaily.com/content.php/2984-TwinsDaily-Mock-Draft-v-1-0

Its moreso about them thinking the Marlins will try and go underslot as much as possible while not sacrificing as much talent. Jacksons value is lower than Rodon/Aiken/Kolek while the talent disparity is almost negligible. Hitters are safer picks than pitchers generally and selecting a prep pitcher with "potential" is much more of gamble than of a prep hitter for the simple fact that pitchers are volatile. But still, Rodon >>

The Marlins are Signing Miguel Tejada.
I wonder if this is more of a Mike Hill or Dan Jennings decision. One of those two guys has a heart for washed up veterans. Probably Jennings.

At this point for me it's Rodon or bust. Something tells me the Astros will come to their senses and select Rodon.

GWhy do most mocks have the Marlins selecting Kolek over Aiken if both are still on the board? Most scouts have both players with similar ceiling with Aiken the higher floor.

Carlos Rodon Slipping: Would You Take Him?
As history tells us, Top HS hitters are safer bets than HS pitchers in general, so I wouldn't mind Alex Jackson at #2, but Rodon >>. Three dominant seasons should not be overlooked. His wipeout slider is easily one of the best out pitch in draft history.

Marlins in a real good position in this draft. They have 4 picks in the TOP 50 and this supposedly a deep draft. You all know who I want with the second pick. But, the 3 subsequent picks will really help define our performance in this upcoming draft.

Minor League Report 5/14/14
Realmuto is our best hitting prospect it seems. Hope to see him in the September callups.

Where's everyone getting all this information on their mechanics? Kolek has been quoted by multiple writers that his mechanics isn't too great, while Aiken hasn't recived the same concerns. So, by default, Aiken has better mechanics.

From 5-14-2014 game, I meant. Bottom line, the Marlins need to find a way to get him on the roster next season (assuming he keeps it up).

You want to see our prospects go 0-for-5? Right, b/c Brent Went 2-3 with 2 BB and 2 runs scored. Has been OBPing around .400 in A, A+, and AA. Has great BB/K.

Aiken has better mechanics, but Kolek has better pure stuff.] What happened with Jose has no bearing on how this team drafts. We were going to take a pitcher regardless given the strengths of this draft are the pitchers. Kolek is more of a thrower than a pitcher. Aiken has not only better mechanics, but better pitchability by far. He has 4 plus pitches already, and is a year younger than Kolek. He's more polished, and with him being extremely young, he can see the MLB as early as 19. Not to mention he's a southpaw.
