Trae Turner or Jacob Gatewood?
Which in a less reckless organization would have still been in the minors. I'm all for best player available, but there probably won't be a consensus BPA at #2, in which case I would prefer to take someone that will move quickly than some risky prep pitcher that may or may not help us 4 years down the line. Actually top tier pitchers (prep or college) tend to move quicker nowadays, especially with how young pitchers tend to develop arm problems when they reach the majors. Its the hitters that develop alot slower on average and their ETA is usually 4-5 years away while ETA for pitchers can be as quickly as 2-3 years.

Trae Turner or Jacob Gatewood?
Rodon hasn't really impressed this season. The velocity in his fastball isn't as good as scouts expected, and is having alot of command issues. He has allowed alot of walks. He has a great slider, but clearly needs to improve on plenty of areas. Isn't a Strasburg prospect for sure. There are plenty of good pitching prospects out there in this upcoming draft to consider like Aiken and Kolek. They are preps with great upside. And then you have college pitchers like Beede, who doesn't have the upside of Rodon, but has improved his command and looks to be a sleeper among the TOP pitching prospects. Hoffmans upside is greater than Rodons for sure. Great delivery, more live body, better velocity on his fastball, better curveball, as good of a movement on his slider. If we were drafting strictly off evaluating tools, Hoffman would be numero uno w/o a doubt. With that being said, I still have Rodon #1 in the pecking order, but it isn't as surefire as people are making out to be. He's not necessairly a slam dunk at #1.

Marlins will take Kolek if Rodon is not available.

Trae Turner or Jacob Gatewood?
This is supposed to be a pitcher heavy class so not alot of great bats in this draft. I would think the strategy would be to draft a stud bat with the first pick, then go arms with the next 3 picks or so. But when you have top 3-5 pick, you draft BPA, and not based on need, so Hoffman/Rodon would be the obvious choices. However, Alex Jackson has middle of the order potential, so he would be hard to pass up at #2, but he's a prep bat and he catches, so he'll definately take longer to develop, plus you have some pitchers with ace potential that can move quickly. Trea Turner could be alternative bat to move quickly but he's more of a insurance, high floor guy than high ceiling. Gatewood is more of a project than the other 2 bats, so he's an outside option at this point. I don't know.

Jose Got a Raise and the FO Spent Some Money(kinda)!
Moran is expected to be able to enter the majors and hit right away because of his already advanced hit tool. That is why he's considered being rushed in the first place. He is viewed as the best pure hitter in last draft class and he's one of those prospects whose advanced approach is projected to make an immediate impact in the MLB. That doesn't necessarily mean it will initially, but it is very likely not to take long. He is a very different prospect from those toolsy prospects that aren't as refined hitters, but have bigger potential.

Trae Turner or Jacob Gatewood?
Jeff Hoffman might be the best prospect in this draft class. Most mocks have the Marllins picking him, but he can very well go #1 to Houston by June. If Hoffman performs to his capabilities then Marlins will take one of Rodon/Hoffman (whichever falls to #2)

Trae Turner or Jacob Gatewood?
I hear Alex Jackson comparisons to Bryce Harper and Wil Myers. Does he have that type of potential? Also, Trea Turner has great speed, but I've heard conflicting reports on his defense. And, who would he be compared to in the MLB? Is Jose Reyes accurate? But I also heard that for a guy that like to run alot and has great speed Turner doesn't seem to bunt or hit the ball to the ground too much. He has a uppercut swing which IMO isn't necessarily bad, but it can keep him from stealing as much bases, or using his speed to leg out infield singles as expected at the big league level. The easiest out to make is arguably the infield flyball.

Is stanton even worth 5/100? Definately. The dude has 50+ HR power, and has perennial MVP candidate potential, and is still crazy young.

Jose Fernandez Don’t Go Breaking My Heart
Brian McCann on Jose Fernandez ''He was the best pitcher I faced last year. He's going to be great for a lot of years to come. I've got respect for him. I enjoy the way he pitches. His stuff is incredible.'' NOTE: He had 6 PAs against Kershaw in 2013, and faced pitchers like Strasburg (5 PA), Wainwright (7 PA), Cliff Lee (8 PA) and Bumgarner (3 PA) last season.

Dang we don't have at least one bat I can be very proud of in the future. We need to go with a big bat in this upcoming draft.

Who is going to be second on the Marlins in homers in 2014?
Yelich (273 PA) HR/FB last season was 16.7%, second highest on the team with 250+ PA. If he can put more loft on his swing I think he might have an outside shot at 20 HR. But, don't quote me on saying he will hit 20 HR this season! Stanton will hit 20+. Other than him, I can't see anyone hitting over 20. Salty won't hit 20. This isn't Fenway. Jones might hit 20. But again, this park might be too big for him to do it.

Who is going to be second on the Marlins in homers in 2014?
Ozuna was awful at the plate last season outside of a short stretch and showed very little power ability. He clearly wasn't ready for the big leagues. I'd be surprised if he gets a full season's worth of ABs let alone hit 25 home runs. People on this board really overrate Ozuna for some reason. No one is overrating Ozuna. The guy was extremely clutch last season and would drive in runs when needed. When there were runners on base he was the only player in the lineup that I felt confident would drive in the run. Its no secret he needs to work on plate discipline, but he is a run producer. His defense last season also deserves some mention. I actually think he did as well as we could've asked from him after Stanton went down. What more do you want from a 22 year old? He's only going to improve. At the very least he should be in the utility role in the outfield. Platoon type player that can come in during rally innings while manning the outfield with his rocket arm. He would be wasting his talent in the minors IMO.

They're both bench players, but Ozuna would perform better in platoon roles than Ruggiano. He's also the better defender. Not to mention that Ozuna probably underacheived from a power standpoint last season. I expect his slugging to increase. Ozuna isn't an everyday starter, but Ruggiano is worse. Never has gamechanging hits. Plays 'meh' defense, and his good basestealing tool is hindered by a low OBP. Don't understand the love for Dietrich and Ruggiano here.
