  1. De Aza played 67 games in 3 years here. Yes we should have kept that guy around. Not to mention he wasn't even good in those 67 games.
  2. Eh, sh*t happens. Ive had that happen frequently with Uggla and Cantu. Just the price of doing business in a previously small payroll team. Don't you own like every Marlins jersey, though?
  3. Hamels will be the 4th Phillie to make 20+ mil annually on the team right now. Yeah, it seems terrible, right? They have so many massive contracts, some of which look pretty bad right now. They're also paying Joe Blanton 8 mil/yr.
  4. You can tell he has had this written since the beginning of the season.
  5. The Royals are apparently showing interest.
  6. He's also a recovering drug and alcohol addict. I'm not sure Miami would be the place for him.

  8. Hanley's trade is a salary dump. He had a back-weighted contract to which he was not living up to. He is NOT worth 15 million/year. We all know that. I don't think many Marlins fans will be upset to see him go. We may argue about the return we got, but I believe the team is not significantly worse without him. But the main issue is what the FO will do with the savings. If they spend it on a big free agent signing in the off season, what we got in return for Hanley won't be the issue. The real issue will be that the money saved was able to get us a real star. So we should wait and see what we get in the off season before we decide if the trade was a bad one. Think about it. If you were the Dodgers' FO, and were asked to pay the entire amount of Hanley's remaining back weighted salary, would you also give away a big star? The answer is a huge NO. That is why this trade is not really a trade, the Marlins just found someone to pay Hanley what the Marlins think he does not deserve. Sign Stanton long-term. Go get a big bat. Hanley's getting paid superstar money and isn't that guy anymore, not to mention the defensive issues. At this point I was just holding out hope he would be decent again, forget great. So much of this.
  9. It went like this...The Marlins could have fetched a better return had they paid 8-12M per year for the next two years. However, instead of an unproven prospect, Beinfest chose to take a lesser return with the hopes of using the expendable cash on a proven player in FA. Would you rather have a few more average prospects or the ability to sign Josh Hamiltion? I know 12M isnt getting Hamilton here, but it makes the FO's decision 12M easier. That 12M can also bring in more quality pitching to replace Zombrano and Nolaso, who better be a goner by next year. Keep: Reyes, Boni, Stanton, Ruggiano Trade: Buck, Lee, Morrison keep the elite speed and keep the elite power. Those are the two things you cant find on every block. Marlins should get rid of the the replacable/average guys and bring in better, proven players, while giving the kids a chance to play the remainder of the season. Looks like the fish are losing a lot, and we are, but this is a realistic situation and it very well might happen. The team will be much better going in to next year if we can make the right trades and sign the right FA. If they have the money, why not spend it on proven guys instead of sitting here hoping the Hanley Ramirez' and Logan Morrison's of the world will turn it around. FO did the right thing IMO. DO NOT TRADE JOSH JOHNSON!!!!! LoMo doesn't even turn 25 til next month. Waaay too early to give up on him. And Josh Hamilton in Miami sounds like a definite disaster.
  10. The Dodgers will be visiting in a couple weeks, too. So long Hanley. One of the best to ever lace em up for the Marlins.
  11. They're going to need a forklift. Move him with what? A forklift? Fine a tow truck...
  12. Move him with what? A forklift?
  13. He's been money since being called up in June. He isn't awful. I don't see why it needs to be one extreme or the other.
  14. Look at the bright side: no more awkward post game interviews with Infante.
  15. Gonna miss him. Very likable player.
  16. Sweet. The 'Unread' tab on Tapatalk works now. Thanks Lurry.
  17. What kind of stuff does he have? I see he's a pretty big lefty.
  18. Anyone but the Braves.....and the Mets....and the Nats....oh and Philly, too.
  19. Walt is the GOAT.
  20. Hanley is still lazy? What has he done since the Fredi incident that has kept that judgement of him? Aside from gladly changing positions of course.
  21. And holy shat Charlie Lowell, SP: (W, 4-4) 7.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R (1 ER), 0 BB, 14 K, 1 HRA
