You guys are all wrong on this one. For once, it is not Loria fault. He did want Valentine, but Beinfest didn't. Beinfest wants a mouthpiece which Valentine is not. The reason for the breakdown was on Beinfest not Loria. I just hope Beinfest knows what he's doing but considering Fredi was his guy and we all saw how great he did. actually there may be a lot of merit in this, and I have been wrongly assuming it was Loria, but it very well could be Beinfest. I don't know how long Beinfest & Loria can work together before these seemingly philosophical differences that Beinfest & Loria have breakdown into a war between the two of them, and we all know who will win that one.

I, too, believe Edwin will be the manager next year. Give him at least one more year to prove himself then try again in 2012 otherwise Why? To me 2011 is a far more important year then 2012 in my opinion. This next year is the year we need to set the stage, build momentum with the fan base and fully solidify the foundation of our team for when we step into out new stadium so we're not having a ton of questions surrounding these team live we've had the past few years, especially with the manager spot. If you're going to keep Edwin keep him long term, he had a large enough sample size to determine if he has what it takes to manage at this level. If he's the man then make him the man, if not pick someone you can see as the man instead of having more of this trial BS. Plenty of good managers looking for a job, if they think Edwin can't cut it now there isn't a whole lot of reasoning to think he'll cut it with another year of experience. Get this team built and ready so there is more excitement and eagerness then questions and controversy going into 2012. he doesn't want to manage a team with a BOAT f***ING LOAD of potential? f*** him. f*** him in his mustache. Oh he wants to manage this team, badly at that. It's no secret he has a serious hard on for our roster. The problem is he doesn't want to have to deal with the two bozos upstairs making all the decisions. This ! Until this changes, the Marlins will be no better than mediocre. On a side note, I did find it hilarious that Woody Paige on Around the Horn (ESPN) said that Freddi is a good choice for the Braves, and that you can't judge Freddi on his Marlins tenure, because they "are the Marlins". That is how we are really percieved around the country, as "just those Marlins" and as nothing special whatsoever, even with our lineup potential.

I get the feeling we're going to end up with a nobody that the Marlins are going to talk up like crazy. Well if we do its because Loria has been acting like a jerk. You can act like a jerk if you are Steinbrenner and own the Yankees. Its completely different if you are the budget minded Marlins. Just like they do with Dan Uggla. A couple of key hits doesn't make him an above-average player. He's a great and classy guy who works his tail off, though, and it's pretty obvious that everyone here loves him. And very few actively hated on Cody while he was here. I can't think of a single person who hated on Cody while he was here, he's easily one of the most popular players in the history of the franchise. I never said anyone hated on Cody, I just said underappreciated. He was just seen as totally expendable, like he was some oaf who was just taking up valuable space for some unproven minor league phenom who had yet to prove he can play in the Majors.

If Bobby V ends up becoming our new manager, will Edwin go back to managing the Zephyrs? I'd say he stays on as a bench coach If Bobby V does get the job, that's an important piece of power he would be giving up. I just don't see his ego allowing that. He would have to have a very good and impressive interview from Edwin to keep him on that way.

Tucker's problem isn't an injury, his entire career has been ineffective. We're talking about a minor league career K/BB of 1.77. His one "OMG AWESOME" year of 2008 was because of a pretty ERA due to a very low BABIP and HR/FB%; his K/BB that year was just 2. Tack on all the subordination issues and it's no surprise the FO let him go over others. Marceaux "didn't pan out" is putting it lightly: He was so bad he was released after four seasons, the last of which he finished with just two more strike outs than walks. Thompson became NJ, sure, but he's still posted unimpressive peripherals and, given his almost-700 IP career sample size, his high BABIPs become less "random in action" and more "He's very hittable." That is a bad draft for five first rounders. You're looking at a below average SP (Volstad) and somebody who's looking like a good LOOGY (West) for players who will contribute to the major league team. For five first round picks, that isn't good. For comp, the Red Soxs also had five first round picks that draft (And our draft position for those five picks were a lot better). They grabbed Jacoby - Above average OFer Craig Hansen - Bust Buccholz - Above average SP (Though very likely over his head this season) Jed Lowrie - average to above average MIF Michael Bowden - Jury still out but probably below average RP due to high FB tendencies. They got 3 above average players and one that the jury is still out on. We got one below average player and one that the jury is still out on. We spent 5.675m, they spent 5.017m, so there's no "Big market outspending" (We spent more because of high draft slots, though, so the two teams basically spent the same amount when taking that into consideration). Now yeah, they had a good draft. But that's five first round picks. There's going to be some busts, there's going to be below average players. i.e. even though he's a below average SP, Volstad is not a bust, he's at least contributing. 3 busts, 1 still waiting, and 1 below average SP is bad for five first round picks though. There's no prettying that picture. And those aren't his only 1st round misses......Allison, Skipworth, and the 3 busts from 2005. Yet people still slurp on Beinfest. I don't get it, I think we can do a lot better than Beinfest.

Dominguez? The .744 OPS in AA Dominguez? No way he starts in the big leagues. If Beinfest loves him, he will. Beinfest put Boni and third. and people don't forget the nepotism factor. Dominguez went to Chatsworth High School, Beinfest's Alma Mater.

In fairness to Henry he didn't suddenly find $700 million under his couch. He put some of his money into the ownership group that bought the Red Sox, but he's not the majority owner or was a major financial contributor. But the thing that ticks off most Marlins fans is even if it wasn't all his money, he still put in a significant amount of that $ 700 million, certainly more than half of that amount. By the way the price tag of the stadium back then, was estimated to be about ½ the amount we finally paid for it. So he had the money to do it, he just wasn't really interested in doing it. I really don't feel he ever intended to stay here long, and actually building that stadium would have more or less tied him to our franchise. I think he and Buddy Bud knew that the Red Sox would be up for sale even as he bought the Marlins, so it was a set up deal from the very start.

I've thought the drafting we've done has been kinda so-so for a few years now. Not exactly what a team that lives & dies by young talent can afford to do. Especially when our trades have been bombouts too. It puts us way behind the 8-ball in a couple of years unless Loria busts out the wallet, which no one can ever expect that to happen.

In other words setting the fanbase up for more cheapness out of the front office. I guess they just don't want to win it all. Teams with a winning mentality go for it, and do what is necessary to win. These guys just do what is cheapest and then cross their fingers that it works. That is why we have not won anything since 2003.

I like that how sports players can still feel comfortable doing normal things in public that they would do otherwise and not see it as a hassle or whatever. For example one of the players for Rangers, the soccer team I support, who has scored 2 massive, crucial winning goals in the past week walked by me in a cinema last Saturday night, a few hours after playing a game. Well lets be serious. If Chris was a Yankee and the concert was in NY more than likely he would have VIP seats instead of being able to be in mosh pit. Amazing how 3 NL East teams will have vacant HC jobs in the offseason. yeah well 2 of those teams (Marlins and Mets) owners expected much better seasons than what they got. I saw this happening a year ago. I saw with Washington improving & Atlanta improving we'd have less wins. I don't know what rose colored glasses Loria was looking through ? Then again I think he is a bit of a goof anyways (and one of the worst owners in baseball). His cheapness has handcuffed this team for 5 years now. :lol You don't think so ? JJ for me, but Uggla is a very close second. JJ missed 1/5th of the year. Uggla sat out a few games and plays everyday. He had career HR's, doubles, walks and batting average. This should be a no brainer. Bonifacio had career highs too. (Half joking.) Uggla had career highs, JJ had LEAGUE highs. JJ was much better over 83% of the season (he missed 1 out of 6 months) than Uggla was in 100% of the season. That's why it's not a no-brainer. JJ is great, but he failed to go long enough in too many games to ensure our lousy bullpen didn't blow games. And I can never give a pitcher a Player of the Year award, because he only was the winning decision maker in a handful of games. Uggla was making a winning difference in at least twice as many games. His timely / game winning put us ahead hits alone are probably equal to JJ's win total. I think people vastly underestimate Uggla's overall value to this team. He is far and away IMO the heart & soul of that clubhouse. I don't underestimate anything, he's my favorite player and you can often see me at the ballpark in my Uggla jersey. I just disagree with a lot of your statements. Do you have any proof that Uggla made the winning difference twice as much as JJ? If you look at their WPA (Win Probability Added), JJ's was 3.8 and Uggla's was 2.6. JJ's WAR (I still don't like WAR, I'm just giving other views) was 6.8, Uggla's was 3.7. If you can think of some way to prove that Uggla made twice the difference that JJ did, feel free to add it in. Get rid of the stats, I look at games. Sometimes some of you guys get too geeky with the numbers crunching. Just watch the games, the way the guys all look to Uggla and take their cue from him. He inspires others, just has a bit of what they call "it", like a Joe Montana or Pete Rose, a guy that can get others to do more by just being around them. I have no numbers, and frankly could care less what some stat says. My eyeballs tell me more than some freakin' stat does. I know y'all will probably disagree and I'm not looking for an argument. And yes Dan Cooley Uggla is my favorite Marlin of all time, and that does affect my position :lol. But dude, you see the games, don't you see a lot of those same intangibles that I do ? They don't show up in some number. Uggla is very important to this team and I will really be bummed the day he is traded or let go from the Marlins.

Also, both teams play in areas of the country with a lot of transplants from other places. There are just too many Mets/Yankee/Phillies/Red Sox fans living in this state. Those people aren't just going to give up being fans of their teams....it will be their children and grandchildren that grow up here that will become the fanbase. It will take a generation or two of fans growing up with these teams for them to take hold. In our case though, we will soon have a final answer to this question. I personally think the stadium will go a long way toward fixing our problems. It will add the stability that the Marlins have never had. It's hard to root for a team that lives under the constant threat of potentially leaving the state. That threat is gone. The rain and heat will no longer be an issue. With the increased revenue streams, the payroll should no longer be an issue. Miami will be out of excuses not to support this team. I'm hopeful that we will. With the advent of MLB.com and MLB Extra Innings, its tougher than ever to convert the transplanted and their offspring. You can now move to Florida from Minnesota and watch every Twins game, just as any other fan in Minneapolis can. I think that is the main reason for the Rays/D'Backs attendance problems, for the Marlins, yes they had a headstart on the internet/dish access, but because of their unfortunate past ownership they basically started all over the same year that the Rays and D'Backs started up. Also many of the people that used to live here and would have been Marlins fans, have left the area. They were replaced by Latinos, many of which could care less about baseball or the Marlins (they want their soccer) or northeasterners which only root for the Yankees/Mets/Phillies/RedSox. Its a clusterf*ck of bad luck basically.
