First off I couldn't beleive they frickin' started the game @ 10PM I could only stay up to watch a few innings, but from the DVR it didn't get much better. I have to think that it takes a lot out of a player momentum wise, getting up for a game and then not starting it right away, good interview with Chad Tracy to get an idea of what the players go through. I also have a feeling that the next few will be affected by the weather and wonder what kind of shape the field will be in for this weekend after the UM game. well Hurricane Earl will stay well off shore to our east, but because of his closeness (being a low pressure) and a high pressure to our west, we will get caught in a pressure gradient. That means our winds will pick up a bit and are forecast to be 15-25 mph, so some balls could go flying today and especially tomorrow, when winds will be forecast to be 20-30 mph.

But if Baker has the surgery, won't he miss most of next year ? Skipworth is not a viable option yet, and Hayes and Davis just won't cut the mustard over most of next season (which is what they will have to play if nothing is done). This is just another test for this FO.

The best bullpen in the league is the Padres bullpen. Most of their guys are minimum salary guys. We don't need to overspend for a bullpen; we just need to find the right guys. And that falls on the shoulders of Hill & Beinfest. The last 2 or 3 years they have made mostly disasterous decisions for the club on the field at the moment, and I blame them for the failures. They need to start putting together a team for 2012. Loria does not want that to be a mediocre or worse year in the new stadium. LoMo, Stanton, Coglan and locking up JJ, Hanley and possibly Uggla are good things but they need to really get it together and scout out some FA's or trades that can make that BP better. There is no guarantee that some of the guys do as well at the plate or better next year. If they stink the joint up at the plate and also have a disaster in the BP, Loria will contemplate some front office changes I am sure.

God c'mon guys give this crappola a rest. We have no idea what those 2002-07 financials are. At this point, "Who cares ?" Lets just drop it, because the more everyone talks about it, it looks like you are just talking about it until you believe it. It is, what it is, and we know the Marlins are $ 61 million in the deficit department, and Loria will use that excuse to not extend the payroll in the new stadium. We all know that will happen. Exactly right. Again, I want to believe that MLB, who would have been privy to the extent of the Expos' losses, would never have saddled South Florida with an owner so deep in the red that he'd need to make money hand over fist for years just to get out of the hole. But you never know with those clowns. and God knows how much he may still owe. And he can use the excuse of this "old Expo" debt to fail to raise the payroll in the new stadium. If this is what has really happened, Bud Selig is to blame, for screwing us and not Washington. But of course this would now make a lot of sense, because they didn't want to saddle the "new" market in Washington with Loria & his old Expo debt. So just give that team to a new owner who can start fresh, and screw So Fla, because they have been dragging their feet on a new stadium. This was Selig's payback to So Fla, for taking too long to build a stadium. Maybe that is what happened and maybe not, but it does start to make sense as to why Loria came here and not to Washington.

And you say they're only catching 1/5th of the offenders because..... what? 1/3 1/5th it doesnt matter. You dont know the numbers just like I dont, but clearly it's not that hard to get around if players are getting caught at different times. If the system was so sound, everybody would be caught right away. Clearly, Paulino was getting away with it for a time we do not know. It's up to debate, but most believed that Heyward would only sign with the Braves and would not sign with nay other team If the $ had been right, he would have signed - they all do. :thumbup

by the way our all time record is 1,343-1,463 (.479) just ahead of Colorado 1,343-1,469 (.478). I guess they have played 6 more games because of rainouts in Miami (or maybe elsewhere) that were never made up. Have they been to the playoffs 3 times to our 2 ? That could also explain the difference.

This includes our current 60-60 mark this year. While we were great in one season bursts earlier in our history, we've since settled into being the quintessential .500 franchise, one that is neither great nor could benefit from high draft pick after high draft pick (ala Tampa Bay.) Thought it'd be an interesting figure to bring up. I have wondered if it is better to get really bad, to get better, since it seems we can't get really good with the core we have now. Do you think the 2006 team really screwed over the plan, which could have been to be bad for a couple of years (people already weren't coming to the games so did it matter ?) and we could have gotten the Heywards, Harpers and Strausburgs ? I'd rather stick with OK teams than be bottom feeders just to get high draft picks, but that's just me. yeah but with a good front office a bottom feeder becomes a contender in a couple of years - example A Sand Diego, example B Tampa Bay, example C Cinicinnati. Meanwhile we stay mediocre.

Clemens brought all of this on himself. He didn't have to go in front of Congress, but asked to do it. His complete and utter arrogance extended that far. He felt he would just appear before Congress and they would massage his ego, just as all the yes men that have surrounded him since he was in High School. They have told him he was better than everyone else, he was a "God amongst mortals" when he threw a baseball, and that he, Roger Clemens could do no wrong. As for evidence, I think when you bring witness, after witness, after witness to the courtroom, and all of them say "Roger did it" its very, very compelling. Remember Jose Canseco was mentioned in the Mitchell Report over 100 times, but who was the 2nd most mentioned name in that report at 82 times ? There are many, many witnesses, there is the "syringe" evidence, but the single most compelling thing that will happen in that courtroom will be when the prosecution brings up Andy Petitte to testify against Clemens, and say "yes Roger and I talked about steroids", which is something, under oath in front of Congress he said "Petitte misremembers". That jury will be left to believe either Clemens or Petitte. Who has more credibility ? I believe that unless Clemens tells his lawyer to try to discredit Petitte on the stand, and completely destroy their friendship forever, this will be the one part of the trial (if it comes to pass) that will be the charge that does stand, and will send Clemens to prison for 12-18 months. These charges and this possible trial are not about Clemens taking steroids or HGH, but its about his making and restating over and over statements he knows are falsehoods. You cannot lie to Congress and that is the bottom line.

I'm not sure why anyone would be excited about his current delivery. Just look at the laughable #'s in AA, and it's obvious it's not working. The only thing that's semi-exciting is that maybe he gets an opportunity to face some lefties late in games, does well, gains confidence, and develops a new role. Aside from that, you can't possibly expect much from him. To be completely honest, the odds of him succeeding against left-handed hitters might be slim, as well. Until the Marlins find at least 2 more really good starters, the team isnt going anywhere. Nolasco I wouldnt say is part of any core for the long term. Sanchez would make a good 3 I think. The rest doesnt exist on this team. That's pretty much on target.
