May 31, 200620 yr The Rockies are among the teams that would relish the chance to acquire Marlins left-hander Dontrelle Willis, but they won't trade either of their two top position prospects, Double-A shortstop Troy Tulowitzki or Double-A third baseman Ian Stewart. The Rockies also will not rush Tulowitzki to the majors, even though they rank 30th in the N.L. in OPS at shortstop. Shortstop Clint Barmes eventually will move to second to accommodate Tulowitzki. In the meantime, the Rockies could pursue a short-term solution at second ? someone like the Cubs' Todd Walker, who played for Colorado in 2000 and '01. . . www.foxsports.com
May 31, 200620 yr they won't trade their top SS or 3B? Well crap, we really need those positions filled...
May 31, 200620 yr they won't trade their top SS or 3B? Well crap, we really need those positions filled... :lol Thats what I was thinking.
May 31, 200620 yr Author agree...our best deal brings us a top prospect at CF and C with a top pitching prospect thrown in for fun.
May 31, 200620 yr not much of a rumor anyway, go with Arizona or LA or LAA Gammons said he expects it to be a bidding war b/w these 3 teams.
May 31, 200620 yr Yeah, you have to go with Arizona or LA in this situation. Granted the Rockies have some decents prospects, but not too many that really fill the Marlins holes. I still like the idea of trading Dontrelle if it nets an MLB-ready CF and C prospect, even if it is unpopular.
May 31, 200620 yr Unless the prospect is the next coming of vintage 90's Ken Griffey Jr. I wouldn't trade the Train
May 31, 200620 yr Let's not be fools here, EVERY team in the big leagues will love to aquire Dontrelle, who are we kidding?
May 31, 200620 yr Unless the prospect is the next coming of vintage 90's Ken Griffey Jr. I wouldn't trade the Train what he said
May 31, 200620 yr A MLB ready starter a'la Billingsley to fill his hole in the rotation wouldnt be bad either. But still, keep the Train.
May 31, 200620 yr Gammons said he expects it to be a bidding war b/w these 3 teams. bidding for what. Loria will not trade Dontrelle unless he really wants to see this team lose. So I take that back, he might trade Dontrelle

So I take that back, he might trade Dontrelle With the pitching we have, and the prospects we would get back, the Marlins lineup would be set for the next 5-10 years
May 31, 200620 yr Actually what Gammons said was Beinfest will not even let other GMs make their offers, won't let them name names, cuts them off before they start.
May 31, 200620 yr The D-Train may be a fixture in a Marlins uniform for a long time...all depends on the stadium. BTW any formal anouncements yet?
May 31, 200620 yr And who BTW is the source of this new "rumor"????? Ken Rosenthal of course. lolololololololol
May 31, 200620 yr Upton CF, Quentin LF, Montero C would be nice or Upton CF, Montero C, Nippert SP Martin C, Guzman LF, Billingsley SP not positive for the angels, Mathis C, Wood ?, Weaver?
May 31, 200620 yr The D-Backs aren't trading Justin Upton. For no one in baseball. Probably not even Albert Pujols. Let's not get silly.
May 31, 200620 yr This article says nothing. Of course the Rockies would want Dontrelle. Any team would, but the Rockies have nothing to offer.
May 31, 200620 yr Unless the prospect is the next coming of vintage 90's Ken Griffey Jr. I wouldn't trade the Train
