canada-marlin24
maybe tomorrow the team will activate jacobs and send down reggie then dfa borchard who i would hope would clear waivers and claim milton bradley????
Mauer7
I wouldn't be surprised for the fish to wait until after the Twins series to activate Jake. I'd prefer them to be cautious, but he did homer in his last game.. Â I wouldn't be surprised to see the Borch move happen, though.

MarlinsMS_35
I would love to have Dukes here, I'm sure the attitude will fix up when he's playing for a contender (yes we're a contender) There's only about 2 or 3 T.O's in professional sports per generation, and I'm sure Dukes is not one of them. MarlinsLou
maybe tomorrow the team will activate jacobs and send down reggie then dfa borchard who i would hope would clear waivers and claim milton bradley???? Bradley is still property of Oakland for 9 more days and it would require a trade to get him. Once the 10 day waiting period is over, as it now is with Brady Clark, he could sign anywhere. sdg210
Need to clarify some issues. Â 1.) Reggie was already optioned to make room for Carroll 2.) There are no waivers at this time. Remember, waivers don't begin until after the 31st so, Borchard can be sent down unless he is out of options. If out of options, then he has to chose to go to the minors, be released, or accept a trade 3.) Don't think Dukes will be traded. He has too much value for Tampa. Plus, he didn't impress too much. Looks like another Reggie if you ask me. Doubt Beinfest would give up anything of quality for this guy. 4.) As for Bradley, like I said in another discussion, his problems is his attitude. That is more than likely the reason he was dumped from the A's in the first place. Keep in mind, he was 2nd best hitter for the A's last year behind Thomas. For them to dump him he must have really said or did something to cause them to make that decision. Remember, the genius that is Billy Beane wouldn't give such a steal unless a major issue developed and his minor injuries were not the reason for release. Considering we have a young team, I don't think Beinfest would pick up due to the negative effect he would have on the team's chemistry. Good all-around player, though. 5.) In the end, there really isn't anything out there available without giving something up of high value.
Backin2008
I just read that the Padres and Pirates are seriously talking to the A's about Bradley.
industrialescampeon
Taking Bradley would be a serious gamble by Beinfest. I mean, he is a decent all around player, but he's been kicked out everywhere he's gone. The guy has some serious issues.
Fishfan79
I've been away for the last week so I'm a bit out of the loop but what has come up recently that Dukes and Bradley are options for us? tampa hasnt played dukes for 8 games he has been getting shopped and they supposedly arent happy with him because of the incidents. Marlins have been linked alot to them for a spec or a bullpen arm like Pinto perhaps for him,
JetsMania
I think I would pretty much welcome anyone to CF. However I think we need to get to .500 before we become "buyers".

You are buying a cheap stock with a high potential return rate, the price is low right now for him. But he could become the next microsoft or apple too. Perfect for a CF for us maybe someday
urumotherpucker94
Does he have speed? We cant really have Ross playing in our CF. Ross should play the other OF postions but not CF, hes just not fast enough. Can Dukes play any other positions?

Can Dukes play any other positions? Yes he can steal 10-20 bags a year. He is no super speedster like Hanley. But he has speed. He can play LF or RF too. His arm would be the strongest on the team right away and his bat someday has potential for 30+ homerun type power, plus he can take a walk

anotherrealfan
Is the guy we are talking about the one hitting .190, with a multitude of legal issues, 44 SO in 184 at bats? Why the love?
poker
If borchard gets released/traded, I hope he gets picked up somewhere. The guy just needs to work on his hitting, his defense is above par. Although bradley is our chance to make something happen in CF...
Flamarlins3
Here's why I wouldn't mind Bradley. He isn't a permanent solution obviously, but he's better than anything we have right now. He would only be here through September/hopefully October. He really can't cause that much trouble with his attitude and if he does, it's bye bye. Oh well. No loss there. Immediate upgrade. Although he's hurt all the time. I think it's definitely a risk worth taking.

TSwift25
I'd be cool with Dukes if it means the job's still Carroll's in the near term. I'm torn on Bradley.
MarlinsMS_35
I'd like to see Eric Byrnes play down here some how, but I don't know if Arizona would give him up. Markakis would also be nice, but same thing with Byrnes, I don't think Baltimore would give him up, but they might turn into sellers now that Tejada is down. Everyone else will go, including angelos, way before him. Byrnes isn't fast enough to play center field for us.
