Your Expectations - Wins

Featured Replies

Questions:

==========

1. How many wins did you expect before the season started?

2. How many wins do you now expect?

My Answers:

===========

1. About 70

2. 81 - 84

I think from here on out we'll play about .500 ball or just below it and that will leave us in the low 80s in wins. I don't like the remainder of the schedule as it will get much tougher compared to what we have played so far. I also think we have about 5 or 6 guys playing much better than what they really are but only Tank is playing much worse than what he really is. I would expect Uggla, Pinto, Olsen, Gregg and Waechter to regress somewhat. Anibal could provide a boost but I wouldn't bank on it. Mitre is a 5th starter type so I wouldn't expect much out of him. JJ isn't supposed to come back until August or Septemer (I think) so it may be too little too late.

1. 75

2. 84-86

We will definitely regress and the pitching is showing its true colors. Still an extremely successful season.

when u say the pitching is showing its true colours, this is with the fresh memories of a series in philly who in case u havent realised have an unbelievable offense - rollins, utley, howard, burrell, victorino etc. before that we played the mets who have studs in reyes, wright and beltran.

but yet cast ur mind back a couple of weeks wen we swept the dbacks - everyone was raving about how our pitching staff had turned the corner

the majority of this staff is still very young so expect far more of these ups and downs

but i think we are in great position to make a firm bid at both the NL East title or the Wildcard race (probs more likely).

Without looking at any of the other posts yet......

Prior to the season I made a $100 wager that the Marlins would win more than 69.5 games.

I figured they would win 73.

Now I expect them to win 80

Then: 75

Now: 90

90 huh? You're a pretty good poster. I'd be curious for you to elaborate on how/why they'll get to 90 (not that I think it's impossible but I feel more like 80 than 90)

I'm optimistic. Besides it is a lower winning % than they enjoyed at the time I wrote that.

Even though they lost today, I still think they can get 88-90 wins but it depends on how well Mitre, Johnson, and Sanchez perform when they return or how well Volstad or Tucker perform when they get called up. I thought they'd have around 70-75 wins before the season started.

Before: 71

Now: 84-85

We should be proud of this team, and the fact that they're never out of a ballgame.

They just have to get some things fixed, and if they hang in there, some trades WILL be made, and we have some guys coming back from the DL.

i said 60-65

I'll go up to 75 maybe 80

they overall have impressed me so far, but the pessimist that I am tells me its still early.......

3rd place would be great

Then: 81 and got blasted for that

Now: 81 and already got blasted for that

Next Month: 81

Pretty much the exact same for me.

Quite funny how fickle people can be, right?

Kinda funny. Fully expected. Early success led thm to think this may just be our year to take the NL East. I still think the team is too young and makes those young 'un mistakes all too much. Guys seeing those short porches and swinging for them all the time. Forcing plays in the field. Leaving guys in scoring position all too often. Those are signs of an immature team. We have a band aid SP rotation. This year was always about building for the future and working out the kinks to make the next few years even better. That's exactly what we are getting. 81 wins would be a great year and a great building block. I'm enjoying the ride. Heck, even most of the losses are exciting games.
