Intersting post-game scene in the Marlins' clubhouse following the 3-0 loss. Generally the reporters go straight to manager Fredi Gonzalez's office. Tonight the door was shut, which isn't unusual really. That's the routine when the Marlins make a roster move.

No roster move tonight, and that door remained shut an awfully long time. At first, the media was told Gonzalez would not be available. A couple of minutes past and owner Jeffrey Loria, President David Samson, President of Baseball Operations Admin Beinfest and General Manager Michael Hill emgered.

Gonzalez characterized the roughly 30-minute session as "kicking stuff around." My initial thought was the Marlins were demoting one of their regulars. I thought about Jeremy Hermida, but then he appeared from the players' lounge and parked himself in front of the televisions with several other teammates to watch some Olympic swimming.

heard that on the radio im very curious any ideas i didnt get that last part if sum1 could explain

"at least someone sees the problem"

Hermida? After a couple bad games?

.270/.340/.494 since the break.

If anyone is going down, it would be Hammer, IMO.

Yep. If anything it is Hammer, and it's time to start the Cameron Maybin era IMO. The guy is an elite level prospect, lets see if he can give this club the type of boost and energy we badly need. He certainly would bring some excitement.

Cameron has improved down in AA and he has k'ed a bit less, however I feel if they call anyone up it'll be Mcpherson with Willingham headed to AAA.. Like I've said before, Willingham is not contributing to this team and right now he's just a waste of a roster spot.. When you gotta go, you gotta go.

this team look like run out gas in aug we leaving too many player on base if we want see post season some thing to done so wont leave that many on base

Not so sure about that going down thought. If he is still here this week end and you are at a game then watch him. He isn't walking right. Meaning he looks hurt just walking around in the OF. I'm wondering if he's having back problems again. DL stint maybe to clear a spot to bring up someone? And like it or not, my guess would be Paulie seeing he can play some LF and be here in case Matt makes that one move to put himself straight into surgery.

I read in the PBP a week or so ago that Hammer's doctors have told him he needs surgery on that hyrneiated(sp) disc if he ever wants it completely fixed. He says he won't do it again this off season opting for rest and some exercise to get him through. Like that helped last off season.

Come to think of it... Admin was sitting down in Loria's area during at least the first part of the game last night. That's a bit unusual but I didn't think too much of it at the time. I don't know how long he was there or if Michael was also there because I just didn't pay much attention to it. For me it should have added up to something is going on, but it just didn't. Brain fart.

I'm not sure what the big new is. They lost three out of four in their own house with pitching performances that deserved better results and so in the heat of a pennant race the owner met with his baseball operations people to discuss where to go from here.

Beyond that everything is supposition. Hermida. That's the reporters guess. Gee, Josh Willingham needs back surgery and wants to avoid it, Maybin might be an answer or it's time for McPherson (who just hit #40 and may be regaining his health and stroke being mired in a slump since before the ASG) and LoDuca in a small sample size is tearing up the PCL.

Okay so here's my guesses. McPherson to 3rd, Cantu to 2nd, Gonzalez to first, Jacobs to the bench and Uggla to the DL. Willingham sent down and Maybin or Murphy or Raynor promoted, or McPherson to 3rd, Cantu to first, LoDuca spells Treanor who goes back on the 15 day DL, or Willingham down, Ross to left, Amezaga to center, LoDuca comes up and they carry three catchers.

None of the above should be taken with any seriousness. It's just wildly speculative and not news. But that's the point. Neither is anything written beyond reporting a meeting took place.

Manny 5HR, 16RBIS in 12 games, something like that, we had a chance.

I would like to compare those numbers to the number of men LOB by Willingham and Hermida during the same period-like maybe minimum 3 more wins and in first place. I really wish I knew why the deal failed and who really was the reason-or was it just Loria at the last minute saying "I want money"? :mis2

interesting. Something has to be done to spark this offense we finally got pitching and the hitters decide to take a vacation.

shut up about manny ramirez. the only way he wouldve drove in those runs is if he felt like. if he didnt he would just ground out to third, walk to first base, and then argue with some teammates in the dugouot.

It's been confirmed about 10 times that the deal fell through because the Pirates wanted more prospects and we said no. Boston was more than willing to give up $7 million for Manny's contract and the $2 million the pics would have cost us.

That wasn't a guess of what was being said. Just putting out there what I read. And what I noticed watching him between innings. I have no idea what was being talked about in that room. If I was to guess, it wouldn't be what everyone else is speculating. But speculation is a basis for sports boards. If I wanted to read solid news stories I wouldn't be wasting my time here.
