A Must Sweep Series

Featured Replies

The Mets just finished taking advantage of the easy teams they've just faced (Washington and Pittsburgh) they didnt complete the 4 game sweep on the Pirates but they fully took advantage of both easy series. I feel the Marlins must sweep this series against the lousy San Fransisco team and either sweep or take 2 of 3 from the Diamondbacks which we own if they really deserve to be in the playoffs.

What do you Think ?

I don't agree. Asking for a sweep, especially a "must sweep" is too much. We need to win the series though.

That said, I don't believe in "must win", just due to the nature of baseball.

Due to our own errors and the shortness of the season, we are getting into must win territory, though the 12 games v. the Mets and Phils are the biggest.

Not a must sweep, but it sure as hell would help. The mets play the braves starting tomorrow, and if they play them hard and we sweep the giants, this would be a big ass series

Especially with the Mets only crappy teams right now we need to win these easy games. In San Fran we miss Lincecum and in Arizona we miss Webb and Haren

Yeah I shouldnt have put MUST sweep but this is a team that this late in the season when it matters the most should be swept by the Marlins they cant be losing series to teams like the GIants splitting series with Colorado or losing a series to the Braves

idk if we can beat san fran if we dont score runs

they average like 8 hits a game at home and watching them live they hit right and left but they hardly ever score and hit like 1 for 18 with risp.

This series is all about our offense if there for real or just a fluke like the rest of the world thinks

Our pitching is there and we need to hit now damn it, why cant we be like most teams that win with good pitching instead we lose. the good thing is the giants cant hit much either. But we got nolasko olsen and jj in san fran we should sweep. Then we miss webb and haren but get randy i do expect to win the series in ARi too. Another good thing is nolasko will miss the braves who own him.

I wouldnt use the word MUST...but I would say it is LIKELY and POSSIBLE and SHOULD happen...but again, winning the majority is what matters...

if the marlins start winning series everything else will fall into place

Winning series is key, but I do think they need a win streak which would mean sweeping 1 or 2 series.

Just because we start afresh tonight on the west coast I thought I'd mention Joe Capozzi's idea of batting LoDuca 2nd based on LoDuca's .292 number batting in the two hole this year and his recent, albeit short, performance at Albuquerque.

At least the guy knows how to move a runner along (can he do it? That's a whole other question entirely).

Oh, and the Herald mentioned Justin Miller is being sent to Albuquerque (rather than cut free) so we may not have seen the last of him this season.

GOOD NEWS. I feel confident and btw in my opinion this is a must sweep this is the Giants we can't afford to go back time is running out and if there was a time to step up its now. :thumbup

Don't know about must sweep but I think we have to take 7 of 9 on road trip which means we have to sweep at least one series and win 2-3 in the other ones. :whistle

i want 7-2 but im content with 6-3.

5-4 doesnt cut it even though it is a winning record.

y not 9-0 or 8-1 because that is very manageble :thumbup

i think thats to much to ask for for this marlin team.

especially when your what, 3-12 in your last 15 games?

if we pitch like we have been with the exception of pinto and 1 time gregg we can win 8 games this trip.

all we need is for the dumbwads in the middle of our order to freakin hit the ball and we'll be fine

i want 7-2 but im content with 6-3.

u never know - the mets and phils could go 3-6 over the same time which would make 5-4 perfectly acceptable

Then wed be 2 out. Dont leave fate in the hands of the other teams. I agree with him. 6-3 should be our mark. Think high. In fact, we shouldnt even be thinking about losing 3 games. We should be hoping for 9-0. When you lose one, then you start hoping for 8-1. Etc. etc.
