January 20, 200916 yr Uggla and the Marlins going to arbitration? Not great news for the Marlins or for us fans. Uggla may end up the highest paid Marlin after all said and done. This would mean his ticket out of S. Florida by the All Star Break
January 20, 200916 yr hermida is making slightly more money than ross.. how did that happen? Cody would play for free if you let him. I believe that Hermida has more career starts if i'm not mistaken. Anyone care to check that?
January 20, 200916 yr btw Nolasco signed for 2.4 million. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/news/articl...sp&c_id=fla
January 20, 200916 yr hermida is making slightly more money than ross.. how did that happen? Hopefully he plays better then...
January 20, 200916 yr So presuming all goes well we should be getting roughly 40-45 wins for a combined $4.2m from Nolasco, JJ and Volstad Now that is value for $$$

January 20, 200916 yr Uggla and the Marlins going to arbitration? Not great news for the Marlins or for us fans. Uggla may end up the highest paid Marlin after all said and done. This would mean his ticket out of S. Florida by the All Star Break Not quite yet Eddie, they have a few more days before that becomes an inevitability. And at the rate they are settling these pre-arb, you'd have to think they'll do everything possible not to have Uggla going there. I wonder if the problem might be the way Hanley's contract is structured and their hesitancy (purely supposition on my part) for Uggla to be making more than Ramirez. If so, three years at $20 million (5-6-9 Mil) would I think make everyone happy (except some on this board).
January 20, 200916 yr Uggla will most likely be making 6-7 mil...its alot...but c'mon...his name is Dan UGGLA...plus it would give Coughlan more time in the minors to better prepare himself as our future 2B
January 20, 200916 yr Per Sun-Sentinel... Nolasco signs for 1 year, $2.4M (can earn another $50,000 in performance bonuses) Amezega signs for 1 year, $1.3M (can earn another $125,000 in bonuses depending on plate appearances) http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_baseb...rbitration.html Sounds like an absolute steal for both of them!!
January 20, 200916 yr All these signings are only positive. In years past the Marlins never had any problems going to ARB with a ton of guys to get some reduced prices. Maybe they're trying to settle these as fast as possible so they can get set on a payroll figure, and know exactly how much they have to go out and spend from this point on.
January 20, 200916 yr The cost of hiring their consultants and running the numbers to get ready for Uggla's arbitration solely (am I correct he's the only one left?) is almost silly unless they are miles apart. In this economy you'd think both sides would be looking for some security and common ground. We'll see, I think we have until Friday, at least in theory.

January 20, 200916 yr I said before the beginning of the offseason that the top two priorities should've been Nolasco and JJ. Those 2 are still here. I'm completely fine with this.
January 20, 200916 yr hermida is making slightly more money than ross.. how did that happen? Cody would play for free if you let him. I believe that Hermida has more career starts if i'm not mistaken. Anyone care to check that? 387 games for Hermida, 332 for Ross. This would be the only explanation why he'd make more.

Dan Uggla's departure will amount to next to nothing.
January 20, 200916 yr I must have read it wrong but my understanding of the team policy was that while today is the implied deadline, until both sides actually exchange numbers on Friday they (the Marlins) there is still time to find a settlement.

January 20, 200916 yr well, i guess we are stuck with Amezaga being our 4th outfielder next year. Not terrible, but was kinda hoping to get an upgrade. Love the Ross signing, and Nolasco hopefully proves that he's not just a one year wonder.
