6/24 Post Game

There should be a separate poll tonight, as well.

Who hustled less?

A: Hermida

B: Felix Pie

When did Hermida not hustle tonight?

He hesitated rounding 3rd on a great play by Markakis.

He also let a ball drop right in front of him the inning after.

This coming from the guy who has supported Hermida a lot. I thought he half assed it tonight. Especially on the fly ball.

I think he was fine on that play, but I guess we'll disagree here. Sometimes you'll get thrown out by the guy who's been leading the AL in assists for the last 3 years.

Again, that was an awesome throw.

Like I said I thought the fly ball was his ball...maybe Cody. I wouldn't blame Uggla whatsoever. He's the infielder going back on the ball...one of the outfielders has to take charge, and while that's usually the CF'ers job, I thought the ball was way closer to Hermida. I think Carroll easily catches that (and no, this isn't a "Brett Carroll should replace Hermida" post, at all).

I voted for Ricky.

Why Emilio is a choice I'll never know.

Almost made 2 errors tonight.

I put Emilio in there as kind of a joke.

I'm more surprised that he got votes.....

Ricky 2.0 has been awesome. He's exactly what the Marlins have needed to turn things around. If Volstad and West rebound a bit we are in pretty good shape rotation wise.

Ricky wins it for a solid outing.

Cody with a close 2nd with the 2 doubles and the single after the single when the ump decided to be an idiot.

We were cheering so load for him to get that damn hit.

Volstad already has

Agreed.

So you say Andrew Miller is better than Volstad?

I think, in a battle of upsides, Miller wins... as of right now, it's still close though

Miller seems to have figured things out pretty nicely. And he has the capability of being other-worldly once he gets comfortable. Volstad is a good pitcher but he doesn't have dominant stuff.

EB beats Cody, COME ON!

EB was actually out on his 1 hit. He committed another error today. All he did today was display the one strong quality he has, though the run he scored was crucial giving us a 2-run lead at the time.

Cody gets 3 hits, 2 RBIs. One could have been a triple and another RBI if it didn't leave the park. His 8th single came on an 0-2 pitch after being hosed by the Ump on the first 2 pitches.

**Just saw L. Ayala was DFA, we should put a claim for him.

Cody had a good night at the plate, but Nolasco was solid...2 runs, none earned (thanks Boner)

Also a good night, being in a Pennsylvania bar with the Orioles channel on, and there was another Marlins fan in the place clapping and cheering the team on... Doesn't happen up this way very often

Could have been Miller23 >_>

Gotta admit Boni's steal play was pretty fun to watch. But yet another error...

Ricky player of the game, as our starters continue to give solid outings.

Learning a new position on a new team, those throwing errors are gonna happen. Exactly like Cantu's 15 errors going into the ASB last year. Anyone expecting anything near GG type defense this first half of the year didn't learn any lessons from last year or are just looking for something to throw a tantrum over. But I gotta admit, the lose because of him and win despite him posts are pretty funny.

Hey!! Jeremy finally got a hit. Now 1 for his last 24. Time for a party.

I'm not gonna rank one against the other. But Andrew sure seems to have finally settled nicely into that new delivery. And I do like the pace he sets. Gonna be interesting to see how he respoinds when teams try to slow him down a bit, kinda like they did to Scotty in past years. On the other hand, Chris seems to have one bad inning every game where he gives up some timely hits or that long ball. An inning isn't over until that 3rd out is on the books.

Do you really want to compare Hermida and Bonifacio? Hermida has done things Bonifacio WISHES he can do. Like, draw a walk.

When did Hermida not hustle tonight?

Didn't look like he was going full-throttle when he got hosed by Markakis. Also the ball that dropped in RF in the 7th or 8th.

That sounds like Hermida every night. He starts falling asleep out in the out field and during his at-bats.

In the month of June Bonifacio has 15 hits and Hermida sixteen.

Regarding not drawing a walk Bonifacio vs Hermida, the former has only one less walk and one more strikeout than the latter in June. 8/12 vs 7/13.

It hasn't been the best of months for either. Hopefully July shows improvement in both players. Neither one can say they were proud of their performance in June.

"14:38] Schnellders: so are u confident of a victory 2nite?

[14:39] PWG: Well, Berken (their guy) kinda sucks, and Ricky has been super solid since coming back, so yeah,

[14:39] PWG: but, we are the Marlins, so I wouldn't expect it to be easy

[14:40] Schnellders: hopefully ricky can go at least 7

[14:40] Schnellders: lots of arms used last night that shouldnt of been

[14:40] PWG: I don't like predicting things like this, but he'll go 7 IP and 2 runs"

I'm still contesting that u may have specified 2 earned runs!!!

Ricky continues his recovery and now has a 2-1 record with a 1.80 ERA in 4 starts since returning. It's also nice to see Hanley driving in more runs recently, 8 RBI in his past 3 games. Cody continues to swing a hot bat and finally, well done to Meyer for a 1-2-3 9th, something of a rarity for the Marlins this year.

What's funny is you make posts like this seriously about Bonifacio.

I think going forward Volstad is our 4th best starter.

That bodes exceptionally well for us.

Agree completely, and what's great is that it's not a knock on Volstad.

But Miller's started to show off some of that potential lately, and you can tell there's a pretty high ceiling somewhere in there...
