I thought maybe Tosca would have the stones to sit the phenom for a day.

Just looked at an article. We could be players for Cleveland's Cliff Lee if we wanted to. They are looking for a young second basemen an addition to prospects. I'd love to have Lee in a Marlins UNI.

We definetly have the prospects to get Lee and Martinez (heard they wanted to package them) but I doubt they will do it. If we do, *drools*. Lee will obviously be a rental and Martinez will have a 7.5 million club option for next season but I doubt we will use it. So I'm not sure if we're willing to give up a lot for just rentals.

Both Lee and Martinez have options for next year, and both are relatively cheap compared to the value of those players.

If the Mariners are shifting gears to sell, I know they've been interested in Hermida for quite a while. You might legitimately be able to pick up Branyan for him straight up given Herm's club control for the next few years at a relatively cheap price, opposed to Branyan's rental status.

And like someone else said, I'm surprised at the interested in Ross around the league. I think he'd be a freakin' menace in Fenway Park. Bucholz anyone?

dont think the red sox want cody anymore. just found out red sox traded kotsay for brian anderson

Please Lou, you're just embarrassing yourself.

It's good to see in print that you are doing this with malice of forethought and that when I say for example "$3million +/-" you are willing to just lie through your teeth and pretend that means $5 million so you can make some spurious argument based on what you say I said rather than what I actually said. And now you are the victim...god you are sad.

Me thinks you doth protest too much.

I'm embarrassing myself by defending my statements and rationally picking apart your argument. There is no lying. I'm not making anything up old man. We learned long ago you don't have the mental capacity to see your errors and you blindly will cling to your own personal logic, but I don't mind continually pointing it out so you no longer are the articulate idiot of the board. I firmly believe in teaching old dogs new tricks, even if they are deaf, dumb, and blind.

I don't think the Mariners are going to trade Branyan, whose had a .900+ OPS his last 500+ MLB PA and makes under $750k the rest of the year, for Hermida straight up. The Marlins would have to include a decent 2nd prospect. More than likely, any pitcher in the farm not named West.

The Red Sox won't give up Buccholz for V-Mart, Lee, Halladay, etc. You think they'd do that for Ross?

Washburn is pitching for the Mariners today, and Fredi Sanchez is out of the lineup. Just a heads up.. and Branyan is still out with back discomfort

Eh....I'd be really surprised if the Marlins made any major moves.

Yea I see us unloading maybe Hermida for a pen pitcher if anything I doubt that Loria will open the wallets, and allow the few millions it would take to bring people to plug the holes we have.

The one trade I think its a must for us if we are to really compete in the NL East is trading for Roy Halladay, and this would put us over the rest of the division.

The way I would work that deal is like this "Roy Halladay, Scott Rolen, and a player to be named later" for "Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller, and Emilio Bonifacio"

Plug Rolen at 3rd, and well our rotation would look like this!

Roy Halladay

Josh Johnson

Chris Volstad

Ricky Nolasco

Rick Vandenhurk

I dare anyone in the National League to top that! lol

Instead of mocking you, I will be constructive.

The Jays have a glut of outfielders - Wells and Rios signed forever, Lind who is under control forever, and a top top prospect in Snider who they control forever. They don't need Maybin or any other OF. They also don't need Bonifacio who is a bench player. As for Miller, I'm sure they'd like him, but he's not really on the table.

Bedard commanded 5 players, 2-3 premium ones depending on how much you like the package, so Halladay is costing you around that. Recent rumors have them going for a mega three player package. So let's split the difference at 3 good ones, and a 4th ok one. Rolen will get another good one, and another ok second player. So we're looking at 6 player deal, with minimum 3 premium prospects, two pretty good prospects, and one throw in A ball power arm.

Premium Prospects - Maybin, Stanton, Morrison, West, Dominguez, Skipworth (I'm just giving it to him for the draft position)

Good Prospects - Coghlan, G. Sanchez, Vanden Hurk, Tucker, Thompson, Sanabia, Kaminska, Cousins, Galloway, Smolinski

Power Throw In Arms - Leroux, Wood, Cishek, Andrelczyk, Olmos, Brewer, etc

Let's take Stanton out for the aforementioned OF depth. Let's give them Morrison right away, Dominguez right away, and West right away. They don't need Coghlan because they have Aaron Hill. Then, let's throw in Sanabia and Tucker, and we'll send off Leroux back to Canada. That's about right.

Morrison, Dominguez, West, Sanabia, Tucker, and Leroux. THATS what gets you those two. Then you just have to pray to god Maybin, Sanchez, Stanton, and Cousins all work out, and when we trade Uggla, Ross, Hermida, and Cantu they can acquire a young 3B and more pitching depth. I suppose trading Halladay in the offseason is also a possibility and recouping all/most of what you lost, but that is thinking way to hard.

Ignoring the money, is the juice still worth the squeeze?

who are the Marlins Top pitching prospects? Who would teams want if we were to trade them for a bat or another SP?

Eh....I'd be really surprised if the Marlins made any major moves.

lol are you all serious? This trade would unload Miller 3 guys who have been garbage for the best pitcher in baseball and a good hitting,a nd fielding 3b! Which we need... Anyway I said thats what I would do it's a fantasy trade...

Not even a video game with trade override on would let you make this trade.

They'd want Morrison, Bonifacio, and Miller for just Haladay, maybe then you'd definitely have to throw in Dominguez and a lower level prospect pitcher to add Rolen to the mix.

And since when are Miller and Maybin garbage?

Eh....I'd be really surprised if the Marlins made any major moves.

Maybin and Miller are not garbage.

Really? Where you not watching every time Miller is out there how he sucks? Or who was it in CF the entire first month of the season who couldn't hit if his life depended on it! And was so bad that even tho he was handed the position he now finds himself in AAA.

They have been GARBAGE since becoming Marlins... This is what I said... I stick to it.

They might turn into good players but so far for us they have been GARBAGE... The Hopper is the best thing we got back for Cabrera.

I would make that deal! Bonifacio, Miller, and a prospect say Matt Dominguez or Gaby Sanchez for Roy H. & Scott R. As long as we DON'T trade Stanton, and as long as Bonifcio ends up in another uniform, and no longer our problem im good! lol

You're a moron if you think Maybin is garbage after the September he had last season.

Also the fact that your saying that he sucks when he's only 22 and has a good 2 or 3 years to still develop.

Miller has shown some promise but Detroit messed him up by rushing him and not giving him enough time in the minors and now we kind of messed him up because we changed most of his mechanics which he has to now get used to. And Miller is also only 24.

I'm not saying that we wouldn't do it, it's that the Blue Jays want a lot in return for just Haladay(At least 2 prospects and another decent player)

then you'd have to throw in another prospect or current MLB player for Rolen.

It would take at least 5 good players to trade for both of them.

Really? Where you not watching every time Miller is out there how he sucks? Or who was it in CF the entire first month of the season who couldn't hit if his life depended on it! And was so bad that even tho he was handed the position he now finds himself in AAA.

And you don't know how to read well... I SAID (Let me bold this so you might understand!) FOR US THEY HAVE BEEN GARBAGE SO FAR! And they have only done well in AAA where they both belong every time that Miller gets a start he gets killed! If he has a good game then he has 3 bad one's and its back to AAA with him... This is becoming routine with him, and Maybin just simply is not a major league baseball player.

He might learn to play the game well enough to be a pretty good 4th OF in the majors but he looked lost out there when he was given the CF job.

They handed him the job, and now he's back in AAA... And look they didn't bring him up! Wonder why? Because they know he's just not major league ready now... He is Far away from being any good in the majors if ever.

I would trade anyone except Stanton, and West for Halladay & Rolen to be honest they would complete this team to near perfection!
