5/9 Post Game

f***. We need a boost now. The Mets have been amazing since Ike Davis got called up, and I hate to say it, but now may be the time to bring up Big Mike. Bases loaded with no outs can you only get 1 run via sac fly? No. No sir.

Frustrating game. Scoring only one run with the bases loaded is absolutely pathetic. On the bright side, it seems Coghlan is coming out of his slump.

coghlan is getting better but i think maybin needs to go.

starters have been doing pretty well but the bullpen needs work.

right now, we need to stop falling behind every damn game and get the offense working.

This team is not very good. Our pitching still sucks and all of a sudden the bats have gone cold.

Our pitching hasn't been the problem, especially not recently. In our last 10 games we're 3-7 with a 4.05 ERA. The problem has been the bats and I think most of us agree that they're highly underperforming.

It is extremely frustrating to see our supposedly high powered offense failing to score many runs and not producing in clutch situations. Something needs to happen, and hopefully we get some wins at Wrigley.

It has been damn frustrating. The starting pitching is doing decently, but we're just missing those clutch hits. Of course... when we do get those clutch hits, the bullpen then blows it. Nothing is go right for the Marlins at the moment and it sucks.

Great to see Coghlan get 3 hits, his average for the season is up to .206, heh. Would still love to see him get that extra base hit though, he has been robbed of one by some great plays by Rowand in the Giants series and I believe Harris with those pesky Nationals.

This team needs a spark. Whether that means call up Stanton/LoMo, fire Fredi, whatever. This team needs some sort of spark, and it needs to come ASAP.

Missed the game today so cant comment really. Ive only seen one of Hunter Jones outings and i thought you looked good. Can anyone else confirm this, i dont know how many outings i missed of his.

If this continues for another week or two, I don't think there's anything left to do but send down Maybin and Call up Stanton for some spark in the offense.

Is that going to be the trend, one up, one down.

Well you can't have more than 25, so they need to send one down to bring one up :whistle

On a serious note the Marlins lack of situational hitting has gone on too long or about the same amount of time Presley has been hitting coach. Would love to see Norton promoted from NOLA to take his place or at least activated so he can demonstrate how and when to move a runner over. When was the last time other than a pitcher a Marlin layed down a sacrifice bunt?

Anyone else miss Jeremy Hermida right now?

He's pretty much outproducing 2/3 of our outfield with a .247 AVG 4 HR and 19 RBI's.

I still think that trade for Hunter Jones was stupid even if Jones becomes a decent pitcher one day.

Yeah, there was no excuse for only scoring one run with the bases loaded and no outs, especially since it was the middle of the lineup hitting at that point.

Really, really disgusting series this weekend. We seemed to be on the right track on Friday, but then we follow that up with two nearly identical games (losing until the 8th inning or so, taking a one run lead, and then coughing that up along with the lead in the next inning).

If the team as a whole had just hit to half of their potential during this series, there's no doubt that we would have swept. I really hate losing two straight games by one run like this.

But I agree that something needs to be done. The Mariners just fired their hitting coach the other day for the same reason, and we're a far better hitting team than the Mariners could be. I'm not really in favor of bringing up Stanton right now, honestly. If we do that we're giving up on Maybin for sure, and I think that will probably kill his career. I would give it another month, but fire the hitting coach or something. It's especially frustrating because Fredi's trying to change the lineup around, having Baker hit 2nd for awhile, benching Maybin in favor of Carroll or Petersen, and then having Helms start today and hit 2nd. Unfortunately none of these changes really helped.

No...I don't think anything else needs to be said. Even has poorly as our outfield has played, they are all better than Hermida was when he was a Marlin.

Right now? No. Maybin has never been, actually (aside from his September's).

That's not true as Erick pointed out Hermida has outproduced Maybin and it's really not close.

There's also a nice difference between Sun Life Stadium and Fenway Park. I agree that Hermida would slightly outproduce Maybin RIGHT NOW if he was on the Marlins, but I would 20X rather have Maybin based on what he can become over Hermida's ceiling in the upcoming seasons ahead.
