5/13 Post Game

Great pitching and for the most part stellar defense. Barden made some impressive plays but then put us in a bad spot with that error on a play he had no chance on. I guess he was trying to earn himself another start in the series.

And BTW, I really, really, REALLY can't stand this Allison Williams bimbo on the sidelines. I mute her 95 percent of the time, but watched her post game interview with Gaby until she said "and that was a great catch by Coghlan in left, I mean right..." I turned the TV off right there because she's so f*cking stupid and I know they are going to start using her more because Craig and Frank aren't as easy on the eyes and they are trying to sex up the broadcasts. LAME. (I'm not sexist, I am a woman...but this ho sets us back 20 years)

Because Frank Forte and Minervini have such insightful analysis? Please, who cares. Plus she's a UM grad. :thumbup

Our starters now have a 2.97 ERA in May. We just need the bats to wake up even though we have been successful in the past few games on the strength of our arms.

Here's why we owe our starting pitching a big thanks...

Florida (17-18) has won three of four despite batting .214 and averaging 3.0 runs.

Usually the defense COSTS runs (Anibal and especially Volstad) but last night defense SAVED Johnson a run or two. Maybe things will stay better with the defense. That will just leave the offense to turn it around.

Maybe it's just me, but it also seems like the majority of our runs are coming in the late innings as well (not exactly helpful to our starters). Need to step up the early inning production.

Runs are worth less in the late innings?

well it doesn't allow our starters to get wins. but as long as we win it doesn't really matter

I don't thinks that's what he's saying. You can't count on always getting to the bullpen, that's what killed us against the Nats.

I care. I like hearing the post game interviews so when you have a broadcaster who asks stupid questions (I'm not saying she did) or when they can't get the positions of our players correct it frustrates me as a viewer. I really haven't made my mind up about Allison Williams but right now I'm leaning more towards not liking her. Her inability to say Hiram Bithorn Stadium today and now hearing that she confused Coghlan's position annoys me. Where she graduates from is not as important to me as how she conducts an interview or gives a report.

Actually, Craig's analysis is usually not far off at all, in fact, sometimes its too "on" in that he asks players & coaches questions where he pretty much answers it for them in the question, and he also asks other questions that are much too blunt and just end up being awkward.

Well I voted for Marlins pitching, but...

I'd like to personally retract that vote...

and vote for other.

Fernando Nieve threw the most clutch pitch for the Marlins all night. Absolutely filthy.

Yeah if the scorekeeper had'nt screwed Volstad with that "wild pitch" the starters would have had 12 or so straight quality starts. They are doing great The offense needs to wake up.

Pitchers also pitch more relaxed when they have a lead. To some that may not be much of a difference, but ask any pitcher what his thoughts are on it.

Also, I must add that today she called it Port St. LooSHEE (pronounced this way), not only does she not know the team she "analyzes," but she doesn't know the state of Florida. Basically, gtfo Allison Willams. If you're going to bring in a new announcer, I want he/she to know the team. I don't want a pretty face, no matter what gender. Btw, I actually like Frank Forte alot.

Alison Williams has been down here since at least 2002 (4 years at UM, 4 years with FSN Florida/Sun Sports covering Miami sports), she might even be from here (I don't know where she's from). It was probably just a mistake, calm down. Alison Williams is not new to covering sports down here, she's been with the Panthers for 2 or 3 years now and is actually a pretty good interviewer. In addition she's been the feature reporter on Miccosukee Sport Rap for 4 years now, covering all the teams down here, including the Marlins. And you're saying she doesn't know anything about the team because:

1) She mistakenly said left instead of right.

2) She can't pronounce a stadium in Puerto Rico that 90% of the people watching have never ever heard of.

3) She mispronounced a city that she probably knows exactly where it is seeing as she's lived here for 8 years?

FSN didn't bring in a new reporter, she's been with them for years.

And I also like Frank Forte.

What would you do if I sang out of tune?

I would stand up and walk out on you but I don't see how that's relevant to the discussion.

I don't get why so many people are hating on Allison. She's no worse than any of the other sideline reporters I've seen for local broadcasts. In fact, I think she is better than most are.

I wish she along with Frank and Craig would shed the compulsive need to break sentence to give a brief play by play when they are reporting. They could be in the middle of a sentence and then say "and Coghlan flies out to left." It's pretty unnecessary because the camera usually cuts to the play to show what happened. Ceasing this would also prevent them from making mistakes (like confusing LF from RF) while doing two things at once.

Either way I don't think it's that big of a deal. We should be directing our rage to more important problems, such as Scott Stapp.

More important problems would be the Phillies getting an extra 3 home games and us losing 3 home games.

New to Marlins telecast. I don't watch hockey, and seeing as how I've been stuck in Gainesville for 3 years, I've only seen her now when she covers little segments and from the little I've seen she's made a mistake just about every time up. I don't like it. Secondly, you don't know if she mistakenly said left instead of right, and I (who's job is NOT to know it) knew the name of the stadium in Puerto Rico and the name of the city in Florida. I'm assuming all of you did, too. It may be small sample size and she may actually be competent at her job, but from what little I've seen, I'm not impressed. Why do we need three announcers?

Hardly. We're a whole one game better at home so far.

We don't have 3 announcers. Generally we have 2 announcers in Rich and Tommy, and then 1 or 2 sideline reporters in a mix of Craig, Frank (who generally only works when Craig doesn't) and Alison. This is what most teams do these days.

And yeah, like you said, you've barely seen any of her, you didn't even see one of the 3 things you've complained about. To say she's made a mistake "every time up" is really wrong. She's been on like 15 times and all you have is a couple slips and her admitting she don't know how to pronounce a stadium in Puerto Rico.

And I didn't know the name of that stadium in Puerto Rico, I really have no idea why'd you assume I did. I've never ever ever had a time in my life where I've had to know the name of that place. It's never been relevant. We did play there a couple times 6 seasons ago but it's ridiculously unimportant. I mean, proof of how unimportant it is the point that it's been mentioned a full 7 times in this forum, the biggest Marlins forum there is, in the last 5 seasons.
