It's really hard to choose who to vote for the FOTG..I went with Volstad because honestly, I'd never thought I'd want to vote for him and who knows if he'll be on that list again but if he keeps pitching the way he did tonight, maybe. Er was that a run on sentence? Sorry..

Great game! Volstad pitched incredibly well. Only gave up one run. Yes, Volstad. The Marlins made history twice tonight. First time the Marlins ever had back-to-back home runs to start a game and then first game with two back-to-back home runs! Our offense looked great, our defense (except for Hanley's error) was really good. Logan, Uggla, Gaby, Maybin, :notworthy Continue playing the way you guys are! Overall a very good game and we beat the Braves!

The bad thing is Maybin's groin strain. Let's hope he's ok. Now Ricky needs to be able to give us some good innings hopefully, and our BP (Andrew Miller most likely) needs to do well tomorrow so we can get another win.

has anyone noticed the fact that davis calls a really good game behind the plate?

If the Marlins keep this up then Hanley will actually look at standings in mid September.

65-62. If sweep the series be 67-62. Please do it.

He did do a good job

And doesn't Davis and Hayes have good arms? Can't hit, wish they could, so they AAA for now.

If neither one can hit why isn't davis starting more? he is the better of the defensive catchers.

When's the last time they were 3 over?

MAY!!

As R Kelly would say from his epic trapped in the closet video, Oh sh*t.

Like Hutton/Waltz said, if no one notices the catcher then he called a good game :)

He actually said "This is some deep sh*t".

Man, I've said too much...

Anyway good game and his name is Dan Uggla.

cant remember the last time volstad didnt give up a run un the first nor got past the 6th.

finally about time and a good game.

Maybin id day-to-day but is confidant that he will be ready for tomorrow, according to Fisaro's Twitter.

Dan is one away from 30 HRs!

Congrats to Logan on his first career HR. Proud day for him and his father.

I was watching Takers but I got updates from a friend's iphone. Glad to see us beat the Braves.

Okay, Volstad pitched pretty well. He was definitely working at a quicker pace so maybe that's what he needed.

What wasn't mentioned in the broadcast was that when Maybin made the diving catch coming in on the ball, Boni timed it so he was right there behind him just in case Cameron missed it. Hope Mike was paying attention. He has a habit of over running that type of play. Sometimes it's the little things.

I still think Hayes is the better of the two defensively. But if either of the two could improve a bit with their bat then they would be a pretty nice back up catcher, if we had a starter that had a glove and bat. IMO, a back up catcher dosen't have to put up great offensive numbers. Just call and play a good game so as not to lose anything defensively when he spells the starter.

You're right. I noticed that as well. Good thinking by Boni there.

What a great all-around win, hopefully Maybs is okay.

Agreed. When we're playing the Braves and especially at Turner Field and we have Volstad pitching where we're not sure what kind of pitching we'll get (good or bad), it was definitely nice to see both Volstad and our offense perform well. Defensively was good except Hanley's error. Overall, really nice to see the Marlins playing so well lately! When everything clicks, it's really fun.

So I wonder how come these post-game threads are in a decline right now. Seems like each post-game thread is getting less and less posts. As I said in the previous night's post-game thread, I'm not thinking about the wild card or anything like that right now. I'm just enjoying the last few baseball games we have this season and enjoying the fact that our team is playing well despite a lot of bad luck going on. But I guess with football and everything, there's other stuff people are preoccupied with. Oh well.

Let's hope Ricky can pitch as well as they say he can and he doesn't further injure himself. And that Maybin is ok. 2011 will hopefully be a better year! But until then, let's keep winning!
